Hey folks, just thinking, is it normal for a 19 yr old to not want to go out clubbing etc, and rather go to the local working mens to play snooker or to the local pub? Also i dont mind drinking alone at home (sad i know but the g/f's in salford uni so only see her at weekends and not much else to do between snooker'ing) to add to that ive got a 5 dr focus (1.6, prob a nice family car, if i had a family) and not some chavved up boy racer mobile. + the bike for what must be my beginning-of-life crisis.

Just seems weird that most of my mates wanna go out on a weekend to the local night clubs and id rather have a few swift games of snooker or get hammered in a local pub (for a fraction of the price, im not tight tho :) )... hmmm

No, and you have the added bonus that in five years time you won't be a heroin addict, car accident statistic of father to six children by six different thirteen year olds, all of them called wayne (no idea what the kids are named though)

Binky

Nope. Don't worry about it at all.

Just hang out with your mates that do enjoy pubbing and snooker then chill with your clubbing friends in the week when they are not being **** heads.

Hmm, suppose thats one way of looking at it, and apologies for the large writing, started it in normal font but then it dissapeired, then i made it a bit bigger.. and it dissapeired agen.. so i made it bigger still and there it is.. just downloaded new internet explorer so that might be to blame. suppose its a good thing/sad thing in a way :D, but what happens if 'on a comedy note' i go to an un-local pub one day, and theres a guy selling crack, who also sells cut and shut cars which happen to have 6 children to 6 different fathers (which they have no names) in the boot as part of the deal?

I'm 22 and have been the same as you since 19, I will go into clubs but only because my mates go in, but I'd rather keep to the pubs personally. Also I play snooker once a week and only go out on the **** about twice a month now. HTH :D

Hmm, suppose thats one way of looking at it...

Perhaps that's a little extreme...;)

Point is, nothing wrong with not enjoying the clubs, I can't stand the places, pay a fortune to stand in a scrum of sweaty drug addicts and scream at the top of your lungs to your friends, the barman, or anybody else less than an inch away from you

Local pub + a decent cider + good company = infinitely better

Holdup
04-02-11, 12:05 AM
Im pretty much the same and im 19, tbh its nice to go out clubbing 1 a month or so for me but id rather go to the pub or play pool as well, i like to drink but not get stupidly drunk, again got a bog standard 1.6 Seat Leon, as much as id love something with a bigger engine and a lot quicker i just plain cant afford that :(

Whilst I don't mind a club on the very odd occasion, I much prefer a good pub! I'm a 23 yr old lass and I love a good pub. I love being able to actually have a banter as opposed to not being able to hear each other

cluffy
04-02-11, 12:10 AM
Mr lone wolf, thats a good point about having to pay to get in aplces ful of crack heads, just dont seem worth while, but as for getting decent cider round here, youd be lucky.. the only good stuff i ever had was when i went to exeter and called at sheppys cider farm in somerset on the way back.. THE BEST is all i can say. And mr holdup, wouldnt you prefer a bog standard / slow ish car? i see it as when you get on the bike then its just that bit more special.

I did a lot of clubbing when I was your age, but I've always enjoyed the crack ( the laugh not drug) in a normal pub with mates where you can hear yourself.

I still go occassionally but don't enjoy it tbh, at 40 I feel like a grandad compared to most of them.
Tis nice admiring the young ladies though, especially in the summer :)

Do what you enjoy mate, not what others expect you to do, clubs ain't what they used to be these days, fecking expensive as well.

Sally
04-02-11, 12:15 AM
Yes ;)

I can do both, really enjoy a night in a boozer with my mates, can do BBQ's/parties and also enjoy hitting town...

A healthy mix of everything works well...

Oh and TLW, not everyone who goes into clubs are 'sweaty drug addicts'...

Sweaty yes, but my pi$$ is as clean as a nun's... :)

Hey folks, just thinking, is it normal for a 19 yr old to not want to go out clubbing etc, and rather go to the local working mens to play snooker or to the local pub?

I'm 24* myself (with the mind of an 18yr old tbf) but at this point I was thinking, 'come on mate, sort it out'...

...but then I saw this

(sad i know but the g/f's in salford uni so only see her at weekends and not much else to do between snooker'ing)

so fair do's. Why bother even going to a club if you have a gf. Waste of money imo. Very few people go clubbing because they 'enjoy' the music, and the ones that do usually need some pilling supplies.

If I want to hear music I like I book a concert where a band I like is playing. Clubbing is a different matter.

Pubs/bars are alright before you're going out or if you're playing snooker/pool with the lads, otherwise I find them a bit depressing and get restless.

Or just be honest, ur gf has you whipped and you're not allowed to go clubbing ;-)

* = edit = sad times when you have to go back and edit your age cos you still think you're 23.

Whilst I don't mind a club on the very odd occasion, I much prefer a good pub!

I've met all sorts of people in clubs over the years. Never once a police man/woman though. You lot just don't seem to like clubs too much do ya?

Maybe it's like the equivalent of Dr's dr-patient relationships. You're not allowed to go to clubs where you've nicked people.

mmm no you just find that coppers out clubbing in civiys dont have neon signs flashing plod above there heads, feck me lad ive been on proper missions with shedloads of police and tbh (most will agree) they are the biggest nutters going when out on the town,
as for being old before your time op, im old now (30) have a wife and done it too many time to count ,it just gets to the stage where you could just rewind to the weekend before and see the same faces in the same clubs ,drinking the same watered down carp, chatting up the same silly little girls not being able to tell your mate how **** it is so just getting mashed out of your mind for something to do, yay great the first 200 times but fecking boring afterwards, at least in the pub you can make it more interesting by changing conversation ,

and by the by i could even though married go clubbing every weekend (most know my wife on here) but whats the point at least in the pub the lads have a chance to talk to me and calm me down if some randomer bumps into me jumps in front at the bar and then gives me a funny look, before i introduce them to the floor at high speed

andrewsmith
04-02-11, 10:10 AM
nope nothing wrong with that.
Can think of a lot better things to do with me cash, than getting mashed every Friday and Saturday.

I'm 23 for the record and rather go to a ale pub or that type of bar (places where you'd find your parents)

yorkie_chris
04-02-11, 10:41 AM
Clubbing's sh*t. They play a load of music aimed at savages wearing baggy trousers and pilled up idiots trying to chat up 15 year old slappers.

Find a pub playing some decent music serving a half decent ale with some good folk to have a chat to. Preferably with a decent takeaway within staggering distance; lean on bar, tip head back, pour in ale, repeat until closing.

Car choice? Well it's just a box in't it, you can't afford anything with performance so you've got a motorbike. Car is just there when there is more crap to transport than you have bungie cords.

(I'm 22)

Edit:
So long as you counterbalance all the sensibility with riding bike how it is supposed to be ridden all is good. :-)

Same here, am nearly 23. I rarely go clubbing and if I go it's just because I like to get dressed up and have a good dance to mostly cheesy music with mates. The biggest chunk of the Yorkies' relationship has been throughout uni, at unis 170 miles apart. We both did our own socialising and clubbing was a bit more of the norm for me then and that was fine. Now I like to save my pennies and just go out on the rare occasion like MBK says, and as I find I don't go regularly enough now to keep up with most of the crap that is modern music it's not as fun as it could be which is why I like the cheesey stuff :-P

You're just mature and sensible for your age Cluffy, doesn't mean you're a stick-in-the-mud either, having your head screwed on properly is certainly nothing to be concerned about! If you can cope with a long distance r'ship while one or both of you is at uni then you're not doing badly at all :-)

Erm....maybe just because we don't tell people what we do in a club as we'd be liable to get punched in the face!

Im a lot worse than you mate.

Im 26 and have never set foot in a club, dont drink either. I just cant see the appeal of a club at all, loud awful distorted music and packed mostly idiots.

Saying that i dont go in pubs either really, but i have been in one on the odd occasion, and its usually one in the middle of nowehere after a long walk/ride, but I'm happier at a petrol station lol.

Aberdeen Average Club.

Pint - £3.00
vodka + Mixer - £2.50 (x2 = £5)
Some womanly blue thing - £3

= £11

And if it was a weekend, that would be a minimum!

Sally
04-02-11, 12:31 PM
If it was a weekday -

Vodka + Mixer = £0.69 (x2 = £1.38)
Pint - £2.00
Womanly Drink = £1.50

£4.88

Thats how badly clubs rip you off at weekends, boils me feck'in blood!

Pretty standard for clubs to rip your *rse out with the prices.

What I don't understand is there are perfectly good pubs entitled to serve until 3AM or later, serving beer at normal prices. Hell sometimes you can even have a stoppy back, and lets face it anyone who needs more than 8 or 9 hours drinking time has probably had more than their fair share. So why do you need a club, not like the pubs stop at 11 o clock these days?

Where? Haha

All pubs and bars close at 1am Friday Saturday, 12pm weekdays.

Its only nightclubs/strippers/casinos that are open after 1am at weekends!

If I am back in the sticks at my folks, the pubs do lock-ins though :)

I don't get the pricing stratigies, in most clubs around here you're looking at £4 for a bottle of beer so I get bladdered in Spoons beforehand, get one drink in the club and nurse it all night. Total spend £4

If it was £2.50 for a bottle i'd go in the club earlier and buy 10, total spend £25

Doesn't make sense to me.

£4 ish for a bottle of magners, pint strongbow, £3 ish.
The fecking restauraunts these days are just as expensive, i got me and the mrs 2 small bottles of dandelion and burdoch from the waterman pub in warwick area, we went on the bike, £2.80 each :smt104 wasnt even half a pint.
Nearly fecking died when i heard the price of them, fair to say we only had one.
Considering its a biker pub in the summer, the soft drinks are the same price as alcohol, where is the incentive not to drink there ?

Yep I worked in texas for 2 months, drinks were hardly any different in price.
Used to go to this place in Houston where bottled beer was in huge ice bucket with women in the smallest of bikinis ( stars and stripes one as well) serving them, bottles of bud etc was $1.50 a bottle.

I was in a club once while a load of DEA officers raided, they were after particular peeps i think cos we was speaking to this huge black guy who turned out to be one of the DEA guys as well.
Police randomly walk around clubs over there, I didn't see any drug using in clubs at all.
A few of the strip joints didnt have drinks licenses so you paid $20 in and took your own cool box full of beer, how cools that?

Edit, i agree about the accent btw , hardly any tourists in the places I went so you stand out :)

it's exactly the little things like that. They'd always tell me over there that our standard 500ml of spirits (each)as our 'session' to get us merry before we even head out to the first bar/club was a bit much. They like their livers too much.
