Is it common for a bike to be blown over ??
With the current weather and having a cover fitted how likely is this ??
Is it heard of ??

I've took the precaution of taking the cover off my bike while there's strong winds about. Plus with the cover on and strong winds it sometimes sets the alarm off.

i had an mb80 that spent most of the time on its side in the wind. i have seen my bike recently tilt in strong winds before i shifted it. always something to bear in mind.

Quite a few years ago my wifes (then girlfriend) moped did blow over.

Shortly after I'd fixed it up, some thieving little s***s nicked it.

I explained the cover acted like a sail and that it was not likely to be some higher power smiting her (which she accepted) & we saved up for the spares.

When those (said through gritted teeth) people took it she was totally gutted about the run of bad luck & took it as a sign that she was not supposed to own a bike (the afore mentioned deities perhaps, I'm not sure).

She loved that crappy little 50cc pile of plop so I vowed if I ever find out who took it I will make them feel as sad as they made her.

My SV has blown over 3 times, at one time along with several other serious bikes.

"serious" bikes? :-s

YC's blew over yesterday, oops!

It's weather like these I'm glad I have a centrestand on my 125 :-)

Mine's been over once before, I tie the cover down with a rope over the seat/under the engine now and it helps stop the wind making it act like a sail.

Mine has been blown over before when the cover has been on. But I can face the bike into the wind so that helps to stop the cover acting like a sail

took my sv down to ace cafe for the dyno night with the streetfighters yesterday had to ake the cover off the bike when it was on trailer as it kept blowing up over the bike despite being bungeed onto the bike and the trailer
i have heard of bikes being blown over especially if you lower your bike and dont shorten the stand to compensate

i had to make a removable one for my sv when i lowered it for use in the pits came in handy

hope this helps
andy

p.s. if you were at the ace last night apologies for the stupidly loud noise from my bike whilst on the dyno
