Well as the title says i have sold my sv, went into a dealers today to have a browse and found a zx10 which had just been bought in for p/x. It had not even been put on the showroom floor yet!
2007 in black, 13500 miles, one owner and a full service history:p comes with the 15000 valve service done, new mot and a 12 month warrenty.
Best of all the monthly payments are within 2 pounds of what my sv is costing me..so the question is.....
can i still come on a rideout[-o<

yep , just like the one above:p
Been thinking about changing for a while, Had a blade before the sv and just have not got on with the sv:confused:
Insurance quote was 226 fully comp:p
I have been looking for a deal which would allow me to clear the finance on the sv and this worked out well.
Had to change to keep up with the wife as she is getting a cbr600rr on the first of march!!(she just asked can she join in here as it seems to be the best forum on the net!!)
What were the stats of you sv and how much did they give u for it?
I want to know roughly what I'll get trade in for my 53reg pointy with 40k on the clock...

to be honest the p/x figures vary by up to £500 between dealers even round here and then it would depend on what you are buying!
Mine was a 2010 lo model with low miles so would not really help you.
You are better going to the stealers and asking,Probably get a better deal now than in summer, but to be honest you need to look at the price to change and not what they give you for yours as that is the important bit. They could give you a better p/x but inflate the price(or at least not discount) the bike that you are buying.
Sorry that i can't be of more help but that is the market as i see it.By the way there are a lot sv's sitting in dealers at the moment so you could be better selling yours private if you can as they will knock the price down for your mileage.
No worries, I can't look to get rid until June/July where I'll have roughly 4k plus the price of bike.. I can never be bothered to sell privately, the bike is from from being in good condition...

GSXR!!!
its a kawasaki my good sir:rolleyes::smt040
anyways, going by my recent history i'll have my work cut out not crashing for a change!!
(before i crashed my sv ,about a year earlier i did the same to the wifes cbr600f.)
By the way the sv is not a bad bike but was a step to far back for me after having a blade. It was the suspension that i could just not get on with(well and i was used to more power!)
That was after about ten years of keeping it rubber side down!!

Sorry :p I got another upgrade in a muddle with yours there, all these IL4s are all the same to me :p...it was ravingdavis who went all 750 gsxr on us. But that's even worse you've changed make as well as model
For me the SV is my first bike and I know it's not all that, although is great fun never the less. I am sure I'll join your way of thinking someday but I figure I will keep mine for a while longer to get more practise/competent on a bike that isn't as good as the next one will be.
I'm also in two minds on going sports bike (zxr/gsxr/cbr) or all rounder (ktm smt) or naked big twin (tuono/duke)...and until I am more certain (currently ktm) I will stick with the sv.

why not try a ktm rc8, possibly the best of both worlds!
But as a new rider i think the sv is a great bike for you to learn on.
I have been riding a bit longer than you (passed my test in 91) and i still change my mind about what bikes i want all the time!
my history includes zzr 600's , zx 400 ,vfr 750 ,zxr750,cbr600's,sv650, cb1300,rd350lc,gsx550ef and a few more!!
My wife's just as bad and has just traded a er6f for a brand new cbr600rr!

Quite a list there...zx10 on the end of that now
I LOVE the RC8 but I think 1) I would kill myself (crash), 2) I would kill myself (posture) and 3) everyone would hear a crazy man giggle like a little child everytime he got close to his bike :)
Maybe if I have a garage any time soon I might entertain it but I would be sitting at the window guarding it right now...hell if I have sheltered bike accommodation and I can manage the funds I would love an RC8 and an SMT!

I am lucky in that i have a garage! Aswell as the zx10 to add to the list i left out my fireblade,gpz500s,rxs100.gp100 and the worst ever a piaggio fly100(the shame)
As far as killing yourself, you may find that big bikes are a lot more docile at low revs than you think! you can also leave it in a higher gear in the wet etc and just use the torque.
Comfort wise i found that the sv the most uncomfortable bike that i ever owned:confused: i am not saying that every one does but different bikes fit different people so when you do decide to change take lots of test rides!!:smt040

Oh dear, be careful there Reeder, he may have ginger, but maybe because of his Viking blood. You could end up with a axe embeded in your skull ;)

I would get the RC8 in white, or the SMT in black with white or silver :p:mrgreen::smt040

I love the way that the threads on here allways end up so random!
Mind you they allways end up having a go at poor Reeder if they go on long enough:rolleyes: :smt040
It's all good. These fools don't phase me. They don't know my master plan, but when they find out... Boy are they gonna be sorry!
