I recently aquired a seat cowl (eBay) and a belly pan (courtesy of Hindle :) ). Figured I would get them painted up over winter. Went to all the local bodyshops I could find in the area but the lowest quote I got was £260 + VAT. Damn pearl crystal colour :(.

Spotted a few threads on here about paint4u and they had aerosol kits for around £30, never done any painting before but at £30 what's the worst that could happen? Gave it a bash, and asides from nearly gassing myself in a friends garage when the door blew shut (and the very worrying pink groundcoat) all went well.

Very pleased with the results

Not brilliant pictures but you get the idea.

The match and finish arnt 100%, but at a tenth of the price I'm thrilled with it.
Goes to show a bit of effort gets results :)

From my untrained, colourblind eye I'd say that looks a good match LOL. Good job!

Better job than I could do (not sure if this means you've done a good job or not) and the bike looks great. Well done.

260+vat?!! Just for painting? I was quoted £75 to paint my belly pan in pearl yellow for my 650 and I just bought a brand new genuine cowl in pearl white for my thou for £78 inc vat!

Cheers :) had to spend a couple of hours buffing away (that sounds wrong) to get a decent shine on the clear coat as I don't have a machine polisher, it's like an addiction I keep spotting little imperfections that I want to attack!

I'am pleased with the match, and ****ed-up on a galloping horse at midnight you can't tell the difference :)

Exactly all the quotes were a right rip off! But nobody would bring them down. Just kept saying that the technical paint is expensive. There wasn't any prep work to do on them either as I had already sorted that

Cracking work!

That price is way tooo steep! I had a curvy side fairing re-sprayed for £90 cash and thats the Yank colours (canyon yellow)

£100 tops for that work IMO, I got my pointy tank, repaired, prepped and painted for £120

Yeah that's the sorta price I was expecting...and maybe £60-£70 to do the Bellypan, but it wasn't to be :(
