View Full Version : Wiltshire Meets - Marlborough area
Hey people,
There is probs a thread with this kinda title already, sorry if there is....
I was just wondering if any peeps fancied meeting at some point? Swindon/Marlborugh'ish area? best to do it when the weather gets better! At the moment its a bit unpredictable! So I'm guessing in a few months time! Any suggestions on good locations to have a meet? Pubs etc I know the usual ones that are done locally, just dont see may SV folks about.....Just thought I'd get a thread going, see what you lot suggest.

Not sure about the Red Lion as the change of ownership a couple of years supposedly lead to the police stopping it as they were fed up with sending someone there once a week... Or so the story goes as I've not been out there for sometime.
Are you wanting to know what bike meets are around or do you want to start a Org meet of our own?

i'm kinda keen on finding a riding buddy locally for the odd saturday afternoon blast tbh. apart from Europe didn't really go out too much locally last year.

Sadly not - They have closed the meet at the Red Lion on a Wednesday. People turn up, they just don't go through the effort as they did in the past as squirrel_hunter (http://forums.sv650.org/member.php?u=2927) said it was something to do with the locals. They didn't like all the bikes/noise made! It was also watched heavily by police!

I know of a few, I usually go to that one outside of Calne at the Lysley Arms. Think it was a Monday night, some nights, silly amounts of bikes head there! There are also a few others I know of, one is over Castle Combe way. I know of it as "The Sally" not to sure on the pubs full name. When the weather is nice that can be a good ride out in the eve! Then if I'm about on a Wednesday night I head to the Lion, see who turns up! Think also George White did something one night, but never had the time to head over there.
I would be nice to get a .Org meet up and running! I haven't meet any of the chaps off here yet!

Ah good man! I'm game for that! Always up for a ride out! Most of my mates have either sold their bikes for winter and now cant afford to buy another one for the summer coming! Harsh times! :(

We went to the Lysley a few times last year. Not as big as I remember the Red Lion was but the food was better, I think. Not been to the Castle Combe one though. As for George White yep they were running a Wednesday late night thing last year I think to replace the Red Lion meet. Never went there for that as I never got a chance so can't comment on attendance or anything. Imagine they will be doing it again this year, will have to see.

Yea man! I have had a few nice rides back from Uni over Feb! Been a bit chilly but the roads were nice and dry! Shame the councils cant sort out the stupid pot holes! They are a real pain in the ***! :smt019

Where are you Pudsey, I remember asking you ages ago but have forgotten. Went to the Harp and Crown in Gastard tonight (just near Melksham), £3 gets you a decent burger and big chips it's where the Wiltshire ikers people meet on a Wednesday.
Of course Lysley Arms will be around on a Monday too

I am located near Marlborough, Fyfield. Pretty close to the petrol station on the A4 heading towards Avebury! At the moment I am up at Uni so wont be at meets during the week, may be able to hit up a few at the Lysley! But from the 16th I am pretty much in Wiltshire most of the time! So I will be game to heading to a few meets here and there! Cleaned my SV today! So shiny shiny :D Were there many bikes over Melksham toady? Guess they are just starting up again so number would be low! But we should deffo have an official meet one night at one of these meets! Would be good to finally meet some people off these forums!

There was a good turnout, as far as I can gather those guys are about and meet all year around.

would have been good to go out today but had a bad hangover so thought it best to veg out in front of the telly. one route i normally do is Swindon > avebury > marlborough > hungerford > aldbourne > swindon, but also sometimes go through devizes and up to stonehenge. Anyone up for something like this next weekend if the weather is ok ???? can meet at George whites in the morning ?

Ah hangovers do suck! That sounds like a plan, not to sure on my plans for next weekend tbh! But I will have to do it at some point! :rolleyes:
