Youtube wont let me watch any videos unless I link my youtube account to my google account. I don't even have a google account!

The only way around it is to sign out

You will no longer be able to sign in to YouTube without a Google Account.
If you do not want to link this YouTube account, you can sign out here.

So basically I'm being forced to make a google account. Not sure why I would need a google account. I google something then click it. What else would I want to do? I don't want their email, browser or toolbar.

grrrr I hate stuff like this

No everything is blocked. I can't see my own uploads, favourites etc. Even the main page is blocked. It just goes straight to the "link your accounts" page

It's all getting too creepy, I'm fed up of browsing for one thing then seeing it advertised on webpages I visit for months to come. I signed into youtube recently and the homescreen said ' We think you might know xxxx xxxxx, is that right?", that being one of my friends. It's probably simple 1 + 1 = 2 linking but it's still creepy.

Google own Youtube.

It makes sense for them to get rid of the old Youtube logins and move people over to Google - they only need to look after one user/password list.

Thats why its happening.

Some people wonder why I go out of my way to avoid Googles so called free services. They're not free.

A few years ago Google denied it, but now they are quite up front about social networking... joining the dots so to speak. We are giving up our privacy.

An irritation has been the requirement to allow googleapis to run scripts in my browser to post on this site. They don't get much from me, but it is still more than I'd like.

Read into it.

I've not got a google email account, i linked it into my personnal fotki email.

I also get paid for my videos. 53 watched videos (people watching mine), = 1p

I get no more spam, no dodgy emails, nothing more than I normally done.

Fricking advertising is taking over the world.

Soon, you won't be able to close your eyes without billboards appearing on the back of your eyelids with browsing-related content listed.

That's where all the money is going in the world- not to banks, but to marketing co's bank accounts!!! :smt104

So you have to put up with seeing the odd advert so you can use youtube, google search and all the other things on there (maps, translate etc). What harm can it do?

You can actually stop a fair few of the things they track through the google dashboard.

Turns out I do have a google account from 3 years ago when I bought something. They still have all the information about the purchase and all the payment and delivery details.

I really want to delete this google account but if I do that I will lose my youtube account and all my videos etc.

I really hate being forced in to stuff like this

So you already have a Google account anyway, and you have a you tube account. What is it you dislike?

Google

I just don't like the way it wants to know absolutely everything.

Google and Youtube are the same thing now, linking the accounts I think is fair. You could just use youtube and now use the Google parts, that way they will only know about you on the youtube part. Someone always knows what you are doing though, so might be best to find which provider of services you'd rather trust with the and use them. At least with Google you know there are many people keeping them in check!
