Had a search online, seems inconclusive.
Doing my mot pre inspection.
The bobble on the end of my clutch lever snapped off ages ago, anyone know if it is a failure-able fault?

If it is, the mot guy would be very anal to do so IMO...sorry doesn't help does it

I think so.
There was a thread on this last year and the station failed it for something minor like that

I'd buy a pattern one use it for the MOT then take it back off and keep it as a spare

If the inspector thinks the end is sharp enough to be dangerous he's obliged to fail it. IIRC the Construction and Use regulations set a minimum radius for projecting corners hence the bobble on the end. But if it's rounded off so it's not dangerous I wouldn't expect a fail.
If you're not sure you could always pop by and ask. Most bike places are pretty helpful.

to be honest probs for your own good, i dont fancy a sharp bit of lever stuck in my leg if i came off (again)
If it is, the mot guy would be very anal to do so
Not really no, because if the MOT tester was found to be at fault then he could be penalised in some way, VOSA do random spot checks as well booking in cars / bikes to MOT station's to be tested
Free re test within 7 (or is it 10?) days, give it a go
if the bike is removed from the MOT premises a partial retest fe may be charged and yes it is 10 working days

Regs on this are clear: 'Levers shall be ball ended and complete'.

Gets no clearer than that then

Is there the full criteria online somewhere? IE the same criteria and info the mot inspector is taught, online versions seem vague.
Edit:found one

I think this was brought in to stop your lever stabbing any poor pedestrian that walked into your path.
Hence just filing it sharp edges off isn't enough, it must be "ball ended"
The good news is pattern SV clutch lever cost pennies ( I had to get one as the bike I bought had the ball missing ), it cost about £4 :D

Another positive feedback from me for 'Barwells biker bits' lol. Lever fitted, nearly killed pulling off my drive though, profile must be slightly different :D
Thanks mate.
