Thanks in advance

Agreed.

You got a haynes, as its only shorting 4 wires on the loom.
Is the ignition lock on?

you've got a PM anyways

IS mine there too?
I bought a new lockset for my bike as I didn't have a key - would you believe I've lost the key for the new lockset before I've even put it on the bike!

Wouldnt have been hard tbh, if you can get the wires off the ignition switch it's a piece of urine.

Hot wiring is not quite that simple, you need a resister in the circuit, you cannot simply fasten the wires together

Is there a resistor in the barrell then?
Ive done this to cars before,(no im not a thief) with no problems at all.

I thought the resistor was further in the system

The connector for the ignition is right behind the headstock under the tank/inside the frame iirc.

Anyway...Oulton Park tomogs..hope it doesn't rain!

Yes I would believe that!

Resistor is in switch as very simple and effective anti-hotwire device.

Connecting wires in the loom plug will not work.

Can the answer be sent via PM to me please.
I'm looking at a sv650 for sale without keys.
Hopefully it's a big enough issue to put off most from buying and to keep the bids low for me to get back on 2 wheels.

I'm hoping it's 1/2 hour job (inc unscrewing/rescrewing and a bit of swearing and pulling my hair out!)

why do you need to hot wire it? surely if you're buying it you can transport it home then change the lock set. I seriously doubt anyone will PM you on how to steal a bike

He he he. Good luck.

Trust what Mr Squid said in post 17.

Also, assuming you are genuine, chek the paperwork of your possible purchase along with the steering lock/headstock.

This

If you buy the said bike, expect to be stopped and nicked with 10 miles

lol thanks guys but you can assume I'd of made all the relevant checks before parting with cash.
I didn't win the bid.
I didn't want to rent a van if I could just ride the bike back.
