Hi All, following on from the regular meetings (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=163249) thread I thought I'd start a gauge of interest for informal meetings on a weekly basis at a set location in the east of the EAR region
Suggested locations are Diss/Thetford/Norwich or whatever else is thought up.
For me for example Thetford is the absolute furthest I am willing to go weekly as I am Norwich based and I would sooner go somewhere closer if it suits others
So I'll stick my self on a list with where I am based and all please follow suit, once we have an idea of where all interested are we can think about where the best location would be and go from there?

How about Southwald Sea front for chips?
I am interested in meeting a lot more than the EAR currently does during the summer however I cannot say that I would be totally committed to a weekly basis as I will normally be going to the swan in yarmouth for bike meets with friends on fridays and obviously at my age other plans also come up during the week ;) however I'd definitely come here and there and it is a good idea.

I go there on my own, nice little ride that :) I'll be up for that on the weekends if your up for it....we just need to get somewhere down as a weekly meet for now though and southwold is a bit far on a Thursday/Friday evening for some I think
We could also gate crash the white swan at Yarmouth on a Friday night too, and embarrass Reeder
Seeing the list already, we are bloody spread out far and wide already....we might all be better off sitting on our own in our locals and conference calling

I do a good enough job of that myself ;)
I'd most likely meet you at southwold a few weekends of the year Mark as I often venture there on my bikey when it's nice weather on a Saturday or Sunday.

I'd be up for that, and all the detours to Lowestoft, Yarmouth etc in between...if the day is nice I'm happy to be riding for hours on end to be honest....
It was nice-ish on Sunday and I did 150 miles just pottering around towards Cromer, the broads and the east coast (Winterton way)
We have always been spread out - its unfortunate but the way it is.

Just as a thought, why don't we look for 4/5 places to meet so that there's one nearish for everyone and cycle through locations.
Sometimes you would have to ride further than others but it would seem only fair.
weekdays are out for me as i've gotta look after the kids whilst the wifes at work but any excuse to go for a bimble at the weekend and meet up for an hour or so sounds good.

Grand idea, looking at how this list is shaping up with locations it's the only way to be fair for everyone

We could come round your house  I should have asked for day of week preference too!
I think we'll have to talk about this proper at the March rideout to make more sense of it but atleast we have an idea of interest for now
So....things to discuss so far are:
1) Do we rotate the location to share the long distances for all? If so what locations...I'm thinking Ely or thereabouts, Thetford, Eye, Norwich, Wisbech etc.
2) If we don't want to rotate location where would we aim for? It needs to be somewhere like Thetford to place the location somewhere fairly central to all
3) What time of the week is do-able for all/most? I think the once a month meet up for all the EAR should be on a weekend day, do all agree? Not so sure about the weekly thing...it might make more sense to be a weekday
4) Is this realistically gonna be do-able?...how prepared are people to travel the distance required sometimes? Would it make more sense just to arrange adhoc meetings? How flexible is everyone?

Or we could just say red lodge on a saturday:smt115,put up on here if you are going on the friday and see if it becomes regular or not!
I think if we get too organized it will be a chore if its wet or cold! And i can bet people will not turn up.
For instance in summer time me and the other half quite often end up stopping at the McDonalds service area on the norwich/lowestoft road.If i was planning to head that way i could put it up and some people might be able to go.
If someone else is out and about they can say where and me might all find new places to go.
Just some ideas to think about.:)

That is the trouble trying to please everyone makes it an almost impossible task
After this weekend visiting red lodge it might just look like a totally do-able thing just going there once a week, atleast once the days start lasting longer and the temps come up...and red lodge looks like a good location for ALL too
Looks like I'll have to start trying to plan my rides out more and giving a little notice upfront on here too, currently I just decide on a whim and go

+1 on the chore - just let things flow and arrange as we go, too much structure and people just wont bother.
+1 on the mcdonalds - I normally stop in there nearly every weekend over summer for a drink whilst I'm out on a ride

Pants....here's a route (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Norwich,+NR7+9DT,+UK+(home)&daddr=52.36988,1.13484+to:52.28204,0.80592+to:red+ lodge,+suffolk&hl=en&geocode=FW5RIwMdxk4UACkZ4H9LqePZRzFu4Cf8HWvCIw%3BF dgZHwMd-FARACklrWWdb8DZRzEh4gC-qBwOEw%3BFbjCHQMdIEwMAClxLvLXj7TZRzFwmwa9qBwOEw%3B FXIXHgMdXoUHACm1SN2trjjYRzE9Oxh9cixReg&mra=dpe&mrsp=2&sz=10&via=1,2&sll=52.370569,0.764923&sspn=0.703469,1.783905&ie=UTF8&ll=52.289163,0.865173&spn=0.704765,1.783905&t=h&z=10) that's about the most fun I can make it bypassing the A11 by adding 30 mins on the journey time. You're coming from Northapton though and I can't see a way of cutting out all the A14....only some
Maybe we need north, south, east and west groups

Thanks for the reminder, I recall using it when I first joined. I don't think it's gonna tell me anymore than what we have now though, it looks like where spread far and wide just looking at the list so we'll just need to pick a place and run with it I reckon.....those bacon butties at the red lodge cafe were nice adn those roads will be niiiiice when the mud is gone  May sound daft but what about meeting once a month like we did today? An yone wanting a ride out could go for one after the meet, if not just head home?
Or....we just try and get together more locally for now...
Quick question, the March run is around Cambridge/Newmarket/Bury, the end of season run ended in Southwold last year...are there any other EAR rides that have been organised in the past throughout the summer?
blimey Davy, thought you'd gone the same way as Mike.
Still around, bike's a bit dusty, needs some ride outs to blow the cobwebs off it....

What's really interesting is where all the previously posted pink text went...
