I feel that this has always been unfair (no matter what the statistics say) so in my opinion is a good thing... however is also an excuse for the government to make even more money off the tax!
Thoughts?

I dont think it is a good thing.
It takes the discrimination card too far again; the insurance companies can prove that they pay less in claims for females then males. The insurance industry is all about risk, and you pay according to the risk involved.
If insuring males is a higher risk then insuring females, why are females to pay the same rate? This isn’t about a gender issue in my mind.
I’m not sure I understand why you think it’s a good thing that females now have to pay more, if you thought it so unfair why were you not on the side that males should pay the same rate as females i.e., lower rates then currently paying? To me it sounds a little like sour grapes.

At the end of the day sex based PC boll*cks has meant no decrease to blokes insurance costs and an increase for women....the insurance and banking industry always wins in situations like this and all us lot get royally screwed....
My family budget has to cover the better half and me for various insurances and we will now be more out of pocket because of political correctness......no other reason! It's just sh1te...

Is it because women have less crashes or because less women drive?
To discriminate by gender is pretty ridiculous though, why not charge less for colour of hairs that have less claims?
About time people were kind to gingers!!!!

Women have more crashes reversing into stationary stuff and misjudging things.
Blokes tend to end up upside down parked up trees and such, having fewer crashes which cost a lot more to fix.

I still reckon its wrong to judge off of gender, people should start off with similar premiums and the cost of such be adjusted with driving experience and NCBs.
After all, to say Jewish people should pay less insurance would be both racist and completely acceptable.....

Why not? i doubt there would be a trend in the way of certain hair colored people crashing more though

Another worrying aspect of motor insurance today is that apparently 1 in 10 vehicles in London are without insurance. Additionally the number of fraudulent claims is mind boggling.
The good citizen who pays his premiums is funding damaged caused by genuine incidents but also the scams and damage caused by the uninsured. The whole thing is a mess.
Many are asked to pay premiums in excess of the value of their vehicle. They then choose to drive/ride uninsured as the fine for not being insured is only 200 pounds? it doesn't make sense.

Dont worry mate this will all be sorted when it becomes an offence to have your vehicle taxed when not insured.

I would go as far as saying 110% of drivers in Bradistan are uninsured when driving. I now live in bradford and if i was to be crashed into i would be amazed if i found out that they did have insurance! I am being serious.
I moved from Pudsey to Bradford 2 weeks ago and my insurance trebled even though i only moved about half a mile from my old house. Its basically like being in Iraq living in bradford. TBH i want to drive a Toyota pick up, wear my mums bath towel on my head, get the shoe polish out and carry a rocket launcher so i feel a little bit safer but i have been told that this is politically incorrect.
its entirely up to the insurance company's what they charge individuals.
just because there has been a ruling passed that says we can no longer have gender based insurance groups doest mean that they will hike the price up. if an insurance company want to charge an individual a lower premium no matter what their gender then thats entirely up to them.

Do you think it will happen though, I'd love to believe that some insurers would think lower prices equal more business and more profit but mmmmm, I don't know, seems too good to be true....time will tell, I just hope you're right

Political correctness only applies in white middle class areas.
Crack on, you'll fit right in.
