Hi all

Apologies for my first post being an ask but I will try to give my ten pence worth where I can :)

I've only had the bike a couple of months it's a blue 650 K5 and i've got the mod bug....so.... unbeknown to the lady indoors i've got my hands on a GSXR 600 750 K6 K7 K8 front fork setup c/w bottom yoke but no top yoke...please could someone list the parts i'll need to complete the fork swap as i've rooted through all of the posts and am still confused...I am super keen to do it and will put pics on as the project progresses...thanks in advance all :):):)

you will need:

Top yoke, Brake disks, calipers and wheel to fit the forks
Clip ons

Cheers, thanks for the quick reply. Have you got any of the bits yet? Do you know if the bottom yoke will be ok to use for the pointy? Also for the other bits mentioned do you know which model/year GSXR you're using as the lucky donor :)

Well Im doing it for my Curvy. I have the K1 forks and yokes already, but Im going to use SRAD yokes so that I can keep the steering lock. They have been bought off ebay so im just waiting for them to turn up. Im also bidding on some K1 calipers at the moment. As far as I know the bottom yoke you have will work but you will lose your steering lock. Im not certain of this though.

the plan at the moment it to use K0-3 Clipons and an SRAD wheel and disks with spacers for the disks like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280610359562&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Im not 100% on whether I will need the K1 spindle (which I already have) or the SRAD spindle. (Oh yeah, you will need a spindle too)

Im just sort of picking bits up as I spot a bargain and hope to have the swap done by the summer, gixxer wheels seem to be fairly expensive.

Sounds like you've got it sorted, that link of fork compatibility is great thanks. I did spot it on another thread but it makes alot more sense the further I look into it. I'm now on the hunt for the rest of the bits....cheers for your help and good luck with the build. Have you got any other plans for the curvy?

I'm just in the process of fitting a suzuki acumen cat 1 alarm so the tail is off but given up for the evening...if anyone has any instructions or fitting pics related to this alarm then pm me please....:)

lots of plans, most of them drifting towards the pipe dream territory. When I have sorted the front end I will be changing the rear shock, I jumped the gun yesterday and lost a bid on an 04/05 ZX10R Rear shock with 500 miles on it by 13p.

NIce one, yeah loads of ideas...also thought of changing the rear shock too, is the ZX 10 the best option for an 11 stone chap on a budget ???

See here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=137793&highlight=rear+shock
The ZX10 shock is stiffer and a little longer than stock, I'm more like 14 stone and think it would suit me well. Like you I am on a budget, swapping for a shock from another bike is a compromise, if I had the dolla I would be looking at Penske or Ohlins or something.

Nice one, yeah it's a money game definately. My front shocks arrived today so spurring me on to get all the other bits! Cheers for your help so far and the link to the rear shock info....more ideas:-)

As promised an update on the parts/swap, so far I have got a GSXR 750 front fork, front fender, calipers, spindle, discs and the rare front wheel, been messed around by Matt at 998cc on the yoke so having to source a solution elsewhere. On the hunt for a speedo solution now and some headlight brackets and then she's coming off the road for as little time as possible to operate......pics to follow as and when the build begins ;-)

Did you get your refund from Matt?

Are you getting a new yoke from gjscott's group buy?

Yes and Yes on both accounts. I was surprised it went through so quick considering I was waiting 3 months for the yoke!!! Did you get a refund from him in the end?

No I eventually got the yoke. I want one of gjscott's ones with the proper speedo mount though :)
