Looks good, never heard of the books though...
Also, is Sean Bean going to be in any film that involve swords and or king/queens anymore!? ha ha

I'd forgotten this was coming... Should be good! Maybe it'll convince him to get the next book out too.

Pity the story will never get finished...
Yank tellly takes on a series, if it doesn't break viewing records, it gets canned before it gets a chance to get going.
Stargate Universe, Firefly, Legend of the Seeker, Caprica for example.
All dead before their time because the networks couldn't understand that you need time to establish characters and draw people in.
Meh

Ah good, Soulkiss is here. See, I saw the cinema trailer and was a bit put off because it just looked like a load of LARPers putting on their best grr faces :D
You're welcome.
Supposedly there's been big guarantees and undertakings that it'll not just be instantly canned, they seem to have realistic viewer expectations and they've finally noticed things like the ongoing profit from a series outweighing the initial network splash (probably Serenity/Firefly had a lot to do with that). But who knows the mind of a TV exec

I don't get it.
Still wondering whether he's ever going to finish it... last thing I read on his site seemed to have a bad case of adjectivitus which is a first.
Edit: Thought the books were brilliant.

Well, the apparent date of release of the next one is now July this year... So we will see. But I hope it does give him the incentive/kick up ar$e to get it all done!
I have to say, I think this series might well do the book justice, it depends on how much detail they can get in there and it looks like a LOT of it is... will have to see.

So though id give this a bump.
Anyone watched them at all? If not why!?!?!?!? :p
After the 3 that have been out I can honestly say they have done a pretty excellent job so far. Very impressed with it!!!!

I don't get it.
Missed this - sorry Northy
Stargate Universe got canned midway through series 2 - so RC is out of a job because of the fickle, money-orientated US TV model.
The same model that killed Firefly after one series.

Chap at work asked if i had seen this this morn, had never heard of it, said it was brill, saying that though, he think's superman is the best thing ever, lol.
The books are great, GRRM just needs to rein it in a little as he has a bit of a tendency to kill one storyline to start three others.
I've really enjoyed the series so far and in almost all cases it's exceptionally well cast. Sean Bean and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau are good, Peter Dinklage is fantastic.
I think it's Fox that has been really bad at killing off series - really hope HBO sticks with it.

It is a very interesting program. Even if you take out the sex and bloody violence! ;-)
I don't have a favourite character, but I do like Tyrion Lannister ( the dwarf ) and it will be interesting to see how the Stark children develop, especially Arya Stark and Bran Stark.
Will Khal Drogo and his hoard get over the sea? What of the White Walkers, does the kingdom really need to be afraid?
Only time will tell.

I been watching it. So has the missus. We both love it.
Fav is the dwarf at the minute. He's portrayed as a bad man but shows glimpses of humanity and compassion. I have a feeling he's gunna come good in the end.
And is it just me but everyone seems to hate eachother? Almost every conversation starts of with an insult or agression, not that it bothers me but everyone is really harsh to eachother...cut throat!

Its because of the history. Its in the tv series but it might not be the most obvious. Lannisters supported the old king, then switched when they realised they were losing to Robert Baratheon (current king) and Jaimie stabbed the old Targaryen king in the back. So they are not trusted. They are also known to scheme and be ruthless and have the money to get away with it, so general untrust. Ned dislikes them because they had a part in his father and sisters death, or at least didnt do anything to try and stop it happening. The others, they are just scrambling for power, so keep trying to get one up on each other, its all like the king said, its kept in line with fear and blood. Lets face it, the king isnt much of a king.
For those that have read the books, how does it compare?
Very well! Obviously some of the detail is lost but all in its VERY VERY good! :)
The books are very much worth a read if you have the time or the inclination.

To be fair the level of sexy sexy is pretty true to the original book, and in most cases highly relevant to the storyline.

I saw the first episode while visiting friends.
Good: Plenty of sex and violence ;)
Pretty close to the book
Bad: A bit CGI in places
Rather incomprehensible unless you've read the books
So, I don't think I'll be getting a Sky subscription to watch it, but I'll consider buying the DVDs and re-reading the books.
Just saw episode 10, season finale. Never read the book.
I absolutely love this show. It's clever in so many ways, massively entertaining and one of the best first seasons to a tv show I've ever seen.

Heh... I had a surprise in the mail the other week, I ordered the paperback(s) of Dance With Dragons, and they turned up bang on time... Then the next day another pair... Then the next day another. Went online to check and it turned out I preordered them, then forgot, preordered them again, then when they finally came out I'd forgotten again and ordered AGAIN!
Oops.
