Sat watching Gadget Show, and am seriously bored with the same old stuff they seem to be regurgitating?

I sky+ last weeks show and then managed to watch it in about 20 minutes.

It was a really good show but just seem to have run out of ideas. And the constant going to australia to test a camera - WTF - free holiday for cast and crew!!!!!

I could put the remote thru' the screen during that ridiculous list of prizes.:smt120

Rant over..

Yep me too, not enough testing of products, too many stupid challenges.

Tonights was dire I thought.

Did like the Air guitar gadget

Yeah it's all challenges now, no real testing and some of the stuff is outta reach of most peoples budgets.

On the plus side, polly is lovely :)

20 minutes? I usually take less than 15 to watch the whole show.
'We chucked them all down a flight of steps and the ones that didn't still light up were eliminated' etc. Their testing is pretty dubious, shouldn't wonder if manufactures donate plenty of samples for the prize fund to get product placing.

Someone I know at work, knows someone who works on the show and says the manufacturers who pay the most get the highest placing.

Can't be true with the destruction tests, but I believe it for some of the others

2 very good reasons for me not getting bored of it.

1 blonde. 1 brunette.

Looks like Guy Martin is testing pedal bikes next week.

Thats a third. Purely in my pursuit to learn a new language of course.

I got bored with it about 2 series ago. I cant stand that Jason bloke. He needs a slap. However, Polyanna in that swim suit last night was worth the wait.

It used to be brilliant. They properly tested products and really gave you good details about them, so you could work out what was best for you. Now they just bin some before the first test because they don't like them. And you don't even get much specs on the winner sometimes.
If they made the product reviews more like the ones on youtube where they explain every detail and try to find its weaknesses it would be much more useful. I bought my first decent camera based on the gadget show reviews. Don't know if I'd trust them now

The challenges would be fun on another show, but they tell you nothing about the gadgets themselves.

I know its a bit crappy, its entertaining but the tests are utter rubbish.

I can give a good example, they were testing the HTC Desire, and they had a test that was to find some info from the web browser about a subject and post it to twitter. Now on the desire (and I think any android phone) you can highlight text in the browser, then long press on it and there is a post straight to twitter option... In the speed test they did however, he highlighted the text, copied it then went out of the browser, had to find the twitter app, because he didnt know where he had put it (on the customisable home screens or in the app screen) and then pasted and posted. As you can guess, this took a GREAT deal longer, and the phone lost. All because he did no research or even really used it properly, so the test was a little bias, as the other phone belonged to someone who had had one for a long while...

Anyway, off the horse, was no doubt one of many of these tests where they dont fully do the equipment justice.

The show is fixed, they are Apple and Sony fan boys. Whenever they review anything it's always the ones that come out on top. They very rarely test any of the "sponsors rivals because they wouldn't like the results.
I could only watch the first 5 minutes of the show the other night because who cares about their challenges.
Shame, it used to be good but now they are just filing it with crap, and letting the sponsors dictate the results.

Some time ago they tested Personal Video Recorders, and omitted the best and most versatile one (topfield) completely.
I mailed Jon Bentley about this, he agreed that it was the best but had not been included into the test! (Just shows how much editorial control the presenters really have) He said he would independently review it on the website, but thats not a lot of use
