Didn't think the UK SV's had the pair system fitted? Is that right?

my K6 never had one fitted as standard, thought they were only on the thou's?

This might help explain, here's the kit's page: http://www.chewys-stuff.co.uk/pair_removal/sv1k_sv650k3_pair.htm

The description:

The pair system feeds air into the exhaust to aid in the combustion of unused fuel. The system was designed to improved emissions. The problem it causes is when using race cans or many aftermarket cans you can get a lot of popping through the exhaust and occasional backfire through the air box. The elimination of the system will fix this problem, and also saves weight. One way is to plug where the valve draws air from in the air box and leave the rest of the system in place, but this kit will allow you to remove the full system and save several pounds of useless weight.

That's all I know....

there is one on all of the uk sv's apart from the curvys apparently

From Chewy's web page linked above it looks like only up to K7...the page may just need updating though?

Fits:
SV1000S K3 > K7
SV1000 K3 > K7
SV650S K3 > K7
SV650 K3 > K7

Where does it go?

What does it do?

It's a valve that lets air from the airbox into the exhaust ports on the over-run to burn the unburnt fuel for emmissions purposes, hence (intentionally) causing popping/banging. Consists of a valve unit on the RHS between the cylinders, with rubber pipes from airbox, and to the cylinder heads. Removing gets rid of a bit of weight and gives better access to front plug, and makes airbox removal easier.

so, if you remove it, you dont get the popping and banging?? seems a shame really to let it go

personally I wouldnt bother on a road bike. I removed mine as we were struggling to understand some weirdness in fuel/air ratios we were seeing on a dyno.

i suppose if your racing and really do need to lose the weight/get better clearer dyno readings for fuel/air ratios it does make sense, but as you said, no real world point on a road bike, unless your over-popping into the airbox

Barwell can you be a little more specific? where does it not fit?

The only issue I had was the blanking plate for the Airbox. The SV1000's pump does not seal in to the airbox like it does on the 650. I cut a diamond shape out of an old 250 airbox, put some sealant on and then screwed it in the place where the pump was.

You not think it running in fault mode may have contributed to some of this rough running?

thats is the problem, the kit was sold as fitting the k3 650 i didn't expect to have to make parts, so made a alu plate and used instant gasket.

ahh so he has not fixed that then. I am sure I sent him a message after I got the kit telling him exactly the same thing. That is why I was wondering what you had found.

I have just updated the 650 kit with a new part to overcome this problem with the pump fitted directly to the airbox. It will be added to my site in a couple of days.

You should have it by now I posted it Friday many thanks for your help. Can you give me feedback on how well it fits? I have machined in a groove to hold the PAIR pumps O-ring to get a good seal. Same with the other two plates so you only need some basic tools to fit the kit and no need for any sealant.

I have updated the site now so you can get the kit with the extra plate required for the 650. If you wish you can just buy the plate that fits under the air box if this helps anybody? Sorry to post a blatant advert.

They're not, it's the combination of theme colours and chosen font colours...highlight the "blank" space or quote the post and you'll see the text e.g. without formatting:

I have come across a little problem with this one, it seems the SV650 and DL650 was updated sometime in 2007/08 not sure when?
I have had two feed backs where the diamond plate will not fit as Suzuki have made the base of the PAIR pump bigger. I need to make a new one for the updated bike.
I need a pump to make a copy. Barwel1992 kindly donated the last one can anybody help me with another

Could you e-mail me at chewysstuff@aol.com

Got a new PAIR valve to make a copy of the new plate so it's all done now just need to updated the website. Fitted and tested.

On the web site code PAIR SV650 kit and DL650 kit, the page needs updating to say that this kit will fit models this will be done soon
SV650 K3 2003
SV650 K4 2004
SV650 K5 2005
SV650 K6 2006

We will add another page same pictures and details as above but with a different bike list as Suzuki has made the PAIR valve slightly bigger so I have had made some larger air box blanking plates. Very difficult to spot the difference but its there.
Or we will ad an option on the same page for the two kits.
KIT A older models above
KIT B models below

Fits models
