so here's the story had a gixxer from the ripe old age of 17 it got stolen just before my 18th (gutted lol) brought a 125 to get around on from the insurance money. passed car test got a car.. got bored of car and wanted another bike.
the thing is my girlyfriend HATES bikes and i mean hates she hated my 50cc she hated my gixxer even more so when i brought my new gixxer i never told her at all.
as far as she knows it dosnt exist. i go to her house in my car and the gixxer stays in the garage under covers :p
she HATES bikes for the simple fact that i could hurt myself ( her dad used to have one and her broke a knee ect ect)
so by not telling her she dosnt worry as far as she knows ive got a car and a 125cc in the garage i never really use.
so am i a BAD person for not telling her ive brought myself a new gixxer? cuz i sure feel bad :p

Better to be honest just incase anything ever happened to you when riding or get another bird who likes bikes :smt023

What if you come off and she has to be informed?
Do you not think she will be upset enough that you are injured without the added hurt that you have lied to / kept things from her? :-?
Just my thoughts :)
GixxerMatt
18-03-11, 08:30 PM
well when i go on a bike ride she jsut thinks im going on my 125 so i dont tell her that i no longer ride bikes just that she thinks its a 125 :p

18-03-11, 08:31 PM
NOPE, not bad at all, just make sure shes put in a room with a lock on it when you go out on it;)
Seriously tell her the truth, and if she still don't like it, tell her to foxtrot oscar:smt101
GixxerMatt
18-03-11, 08:33 PM
lol i do thave the intention of telling her just gotta wait for the right time like spring :p
dizzyblonde
18-03-11, 08:36 PM
Why such a long time to tell, you scared she might turn into a bunny boiler or summat, and handcuff you to a radiator, so you can't go out?
GixxerMatt
18-03-11, 08:37 PM
haha well i pretty much know and she has said that if i get another bike she is gone and i dont wanna break a 2 year relashionship up for a bike :p but i love them to much to not have one haha i want the best of both worlds.
tell her the truth, if she dont like it then get another girlfriend or stick with riding bikes. bikes dont moan when you ride others.

If a bloke said that to me

My girlyfriend also hates them for the dangers involved, I just ignore her though and I think you should grow some balls and do what you want without lying or feeling guilty about it. In my opinion a 125 is just as dangerous anyway.
GixxerMatt
18-03-11, 08:42 PM
lol that pic is amazing :') and i SHOULD grow some balls but its gonna end badly haha
if she really loves you she will understand. she might not like it but there will be things that she does that you dont like.
GixxerMatt
18-03-11, 08:46 PM
I dont think she will actually leave me but the moaning im gonna get for months on end haha can a lady on here tell me the best way youd liek to be told about it haha?

Look Love, I've got me a new bikes innit, if you don't like it, theres nowt you can do!(read feck orf)
Seriously, I nursed my ex, after he had his hip replaced, ten years after a serious bike accident. I kepy my gob firmly shut when he got back on his bike four weeks after the operation.
Pegs got half his leg missing, I might express concern at times BUT
I NEVER stop any bloke getting on his bike, entirely upto them, hypocritical if I was to kick up a fuss, the only time I will do that is if yer acting like a c0ck on the road;)

18-03-11, 08:53 PM
lmao "Look Love, I've got me a new bikes innit, if you don't like it, theres nowt you can do!" thats exactly what i is gonna say :p
and ive told her im gonna do my bike safe this year and she knows i ride safe :p
take her shopping coz women love shopping. head straight to the nearest bike clothing shop take her in and say 'you had better pick a lid and leathers coz your going to need them'. there job done and she gets to go shopping.

This doesn't sound like a recipie for a stable and long term relationship, if she doesn't like you ridin a bike. :|
You're just goin to end up resenting her for spoiling your fun. :|
I know she's concerned for your safety & welfare, but she needs to take a chill pill I'm afraid

Do you think she could be convinced? If so I have a plan!
Wait 'til the biking season starts proper, and tell her you've heard about a pub that does really nice food by a canal, and bring her out on a Wednesday
https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=101268957247
When you arrive "Wow, where did all these bikes come from, can we have a look around?"
Be really interested in a yellow Gixxer we have for sale at a great price ;-) , have the debate in the car park over whether you should buy it and we'll offer to buy you both a drink. We'll tell her how we are all experienced bikers, and it's not a dangerous as the general public would have you believe, in fact it's as safe as you want to make it. We'll even take her out on pillion for a nice smooth safe easy bimble, see if she enjoys it.
She thinks she was part of buying the bike, all sorted!

You're a bad bad person for letting some wench get in the way of the things you like doing.
You need to talk. Tell her you love bikes and you're buying a GSXR, you're going to be as careful as you can and do some advanced training etc. but they're a big part of your life and very important to you.
If she says "no" then f*ck her off quick sharp as she's clearly too selfish to let you do what you enjoy.
Alternatively just tip up on the GSXR to her place and see what happens, I think I prefer this course of action.

When i got back into biking my wife said she was not keen on the idea and don't even bother asking her to go on it... roll on 2 years and she was on the back of it heading up to the superbikes at Knockhill! Ali wanted to go up to watch the racing and said we'll take the car, my reply was get on the bike or yer not going, there's no danger I'm sitting in the traffic and amazed me when she replied with "you'd better buy me some gear then" :smt119

Get it all out in the open, if she really doesn't want to lose you then she'll just have to get used to the idea. And appreciate the fact she's got you in one piece every time you get off the bike seeing as you'll be riding it anyway. Life's too short!
she HATES bikes for the simple fact that i could hurt myself ( her dad used to have one and her broke a knee ect ect)
But of course driving about in a car or walking from A to B you eliminate ALL risk of injury...put two wheels and an engine into the equation and you WILL DIE! *
*subject to stupid behaviour and lack of control.
Just read in another thread that you own a smart car.
FFs we have to stop this, its getting on my nippyjangles!
It's your life, do what you wanna do. It'll cause friction every time you mention the bike, and when you go out on it she'll make life hell. So just tell her and make it clear that the bike stays. If she don't like it, the door is that way. Some people really are very selfish:rolleyes:
She'll still leave you anyway, I mean who could cope with a bloke in a Smart car:laughat::laughat::smt082:smt082

When I finally got round to passing my test a couple of years ago, my wife wasn't keen at all, but knowing how pig headed I am, she tolerated it.
Two years on, she goes pillion and secretly likes it, i never thought she would even get on tbh.
You can't base a relationship on lies, it has to be total trust or nothing IMO.
Ps smart cars are extremely feminine, so why ???
Unless that is, it has a highly strung motorbike engine that goes like stink, yours isn't one of them is it?

yeah prolly worth telling her buddy, if it's something you love doing then why should another person's fears or worries stop you? Obviously you appreciate that she's just worried about you, but putting an outright ban on it & threatening to end the relationship is a bit childish & spoilt.
My ex was constantly giving it "When are you gonna get rid of that thing?" or "That thing's going as soon as we're having kids" or "the time is coming where you'll have to grow up and stop playing with motorbikes" etc... Amongst other things, she basically pushed me away and made me despise her.
Then I met someone new who was really supportive of it all, and although she worries she understands that I love it....... Ironically enough I've gotten a bit bored of it all over the last 6 months and decided to take some time out from biking.

So.
Have you told her yet?
:)
Tell her. life is all about compromises and this is one that she'll have to take. FFS you'll probably come off worse in a car accident.
IP's mum told him that she didn't want to know when he passed so he has told her - but women ain't stupid.
I gave IP the ultimateum when I was taking my test - i do it with or without his blessing. The risk of ending up in a wheel chair is one I take not anyone else. think about what she does that you don't query.
its about give and take if you were riding before she cam along - i'm sorry but in my eyes its a tough "you knew I ride when you first went out with me. Its something that I will not compromise on - love me love my bikes"
harsh i know but thats me!
