View Full Version : An embarrasing "off"

I went out on the town in Winchester last night, rode down there on the SV. Wasn't 100% sure where I was heading so I pulled over onto a little run off area at the side of the road right outside a Pub to check the map on my phone.

There was loads of people outside and I didn't notice this inch high kerb. Yep, it took the front wheel away while I was going a grand total of about 2 mph.

Off I fell in slow motion, all the time trying to keep my balance and stop the bike falling. Up went the cheers from the crowd and down I went.

Couple of guys helped me up and everyone was nice but it didn't stop them cheering as well when I finally I pulled away. Someone tell me I'm not the only one to have done somthing like this...please.:oops:

Haha, I pulled in to a car park once in the pitch black (pulled in because I saw a blue 'P' sign) and suddenly the road surface turned from Tarmac to deep gravel.... The back wheel went straight out, worse than that... I had bought the bike just 3 hours earlier!

Nobody saw tho, thank god!

LOU...you really don't want to be doin that!!!!

I caught it before it went down, but it was way too obvious to have made it look like owt else :(

Could be worse, I slid my 125 down the road in front of the bus stop at my uni digs which was packed with about 40 drunk people, many of whom I knew.

Almost dropped my CB500 when I was waiting to turn into the missus' parent's road... someone rather unexpectedly (late) flashed me to turn so I gave it absolutely no throttle and stalled, tipped over, caught it just before anything touched the ground... *whew*

Yep done it.
Stalled doing a U turn on a hill somehow kept it from touching.

Stalled parking up at the college, not enough momentum and the R&G's did their jobs

Yup, 18 years without a bike finally did a deal with the missus I got a bike in return for taking her skiing.

Bought an SV, rode 50 miles home on it bit wobbly but safe enough, wife and kids followed all the way in the car.

Got home rode into the garage kicked out the sidestand, leant it over sidestand pinged back up and bike ended up on top of me with whole family watching :oops::oops: not a scrach on the bike though

...... life's one big learning curve!

First week after passing my test, picked up the SV, was loving it, went to a jam with the old band i played in, pulled up on the SV, everyone watching me,......looking at me........went to the top of the unit we played at to turn around and come back to park up.......without thinking i grabbed a handful of front break whilst on full lock, and grit was on the road.......only one thing happened.........on the floor!!!

i couldn't believe it, i felt like such a tw@!!!

Fell off a scooter in blockbuster car park at about 12 mph aged 16, some people came over to help me out and I jumped up and got off quick smart, assesed injuries at next set of traffic lights.

Fell off 125 on Weymouth sea front - again low speed - tram lines are slippy in the wet. fact that bike fell on top of me prevented quick getaway, several Cnuts in cars just drove round me.

tried to jump a little river/ditch on a push bike in front of my mates, landed on my face.

fell off my mates new scooter in a car park, going in a straight line, hard on the brakes on wet leaves.

dropped the Sv doing a U turn on a hill in a car park.

Been knocked off by IP who leant over too far while on his bike!

Put foot down pothole and carted myself off again in car park with loads of foreigner watching - thankfully nobody laughed and everyone helped me up!

yeah we've all done it!!

On my Direct Access the other woman on the course overshot where she should have done her emegency stop, stalled alongside me and then dropped her bike on to me where I was pulled over at he side of the road. No way I could get out of her way in time and I had a massive bruise for the rest of the week. I passed but she failed when we took our test at the end of the week.

Rode into petrol station and decided to NOT put the sidestand down on my Honda VT125 - at all! God knows what i was thinking about.
As i wobbled and tried to hold the bike, I remembered that I had already traded it in for my SV so dare not risk damage, so I left my leg under the bike and gently lowered it!
Only problem was i was now stuck under the bike and had to call a man in white van to lift bike off me.:oops::oops::oops::oops:
Had a couple of wobbles with SV but so far managed to hold it up.:smt080

^^^^

I did exactly the same with my CBR125 :p

On the way back from my Module 1 I was riding the schools CBF500, we stopped at a roundabout at rush hour, I put my foot down but there was no road underneath it and I ended up stuck under the bike.
Had a lovely big bruise on my thigh for weeks after :p

Massively cringe worthy one for me.

Go to do a some work with my old company (charity abseils) which i left after breaking up with my ex, who still works for them. So going back to old job for after years and seeing my ex - both pretty scary as you wanna show you have got somewhere in life and are, you know, kinda better off.

I had to ride up to birmingham in the morning to do the abseil and as i pull up the whole team (including my ex and his new misses) are all stood outside..... theres me thinkin oh yeh i look quite cool, black bike black leathers black visor

Went to stop and put my foot down annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd my leg had gone totally numb, collapsed underneath me and i ended up with bike on top of me having to ask for help  THE worst thing ever :(

All i could do was look up at them all pi$$ing themselves laughing at me and say "well... i look like a bit of a d1ck dont i"

Had to do the rest of the abseil limping and feelin rather sheepish lol

Not quite an off but almost dropped my old CB1-400. Used to ahve to push the bike backwards up the drive, up the side of the car. At the end of the drive was a small tree which was a bit of a pain to get past so I decided to dig it out which I did. Couple of days later decided to go out on the bike, so there I am sitting on it pushing it backwards up the drive forgetting that theres now a 2foot wide 1fot deep hole at the side of me. Foot goes down hole on my right and i pretty much fall over.

They're all embarrasing but I had the mother of all humiliation.

Loada uni mates happen to be around as I'm getting on my bike. Literally, getting on my bike! Pull the bike in an upright position so I can kick the stand back, but pulled too far past upright like an eager beaver and I lose it as it goes down on its right.

I save it with my boot but need a hand to get it back up. Still to this day don't know how I managed to do that. Never did it as a learner and never again since - very gutting though.

i was on a quiet country road absolutley nothing around, so decided to do a u turn, to ride the road again the opposite way, it was on a hill and as i got half way round i toppled over somehow, right at the moment a car appeared from both directions, no one helped they just sat there watching me, probably in disbelief LOL :oops::oops:
