cheers guys. ermm i need to know fork diamiters and yoke sizes if you can please. i was looking at doing a for front end swap with one preferbly the 650 as its more simular to the sv650 :)

the cagica's come with brembo calipers dont they?

will look better than a gsxr front end :)

and once again cheers guys

Not sure if the Raptor 1000 has the same size forks as the 650, but TBH i'd just put a GSXR front end on, the raptor forks are ok but not the greatest. Plus you cant really buy spares like seals for the brembos.

I've done seals on them and can safely say buy GSXR parts, they're pretty dire.
The shocks are worse.

Also they have some wierd wop lock arrangement so forget being able to put the ignition anywhere let alone use steering lock!

I might have a look in the manual at the dimensions, for the 1000, and perhaps get round to sending DD a copy:oops:

PS the only similarity between the Raptor 650 and the SV650 is the engine ;)

ok Raptor 1000 at least has...forks of

TYPE inverted hydraulic telescopic fork of (funny o symbol) 43mm(1.693in)
STEERING ANGLE 32deg (LEFT AND RIGHT)
HEADTUBE 25deg
TRAIL 110mm (4.331in)
FORK TRAVEL 120mm(4.724in)

Help at all?

That 43mm is diameter of shiny chrome bit, top parts that fit in yokes are bigger than that

ORLY???

The Raptor owners (1000 at least) have problems finding such things as caliper seals due to Brembo not making them anymore. Something to do with some kn0b not fitting them right and having himself a woopsi daisy:rolleyes:
Only ones compatible are from KTM. Can't remember off the top of my head which though. Its across the board, as Aprillia owners have the same issue, being they use the same brakes.

I shall be remembering you when I can't find stuff;)

yer we are. :) we are in norfolk :)
we tune them and everything like that. full servicing on them and well any bike. track preps and race preps :) its lots of fun :)

we are ktm specialist too :) we tune them as well :) used to race them in supermoto

used to race the mv's in british superstock :) did very well :)

but yer parts shouldnt be to hard if i cna actually find a pair of forks any how :)

best place for that would be the bay of evil or occasionally the Raptor Chapter.

I reckon it's more of a sidestep than an upgrade TBH.

Personally if I wanted to do something like that I'd use showas off of a ducati or an aprilia, then you got decent springs and adjustability as standard.

Or find some MV forks, I've never seen any but I bet it's not been done before!

Apparently R1 internals fit in the forks to make them betterer, but I don't pay that much attention TBH, as mine just need some new fork oil, they're only undersprung to people over 10 stone!
Rear shock is a bit iffy though, but i can put up with that for a wee while longer.(again, only iffy if yer over 10 stone!)

Yeah, but you'd be nuts to deliberately fit rare, expensive, crap parts that you need to get some more rare, expensive parts to make work when there are more common, cheaper and damn near spot on parts available

On the same token Chris.....its a rare expensive bike to have in the first place, so putting rare expensive parts on it don't really make a difference!

Theres many a person out there that own them who have experimented with suspension that works.....a bit like those SVers that do the same with theirs ;)

Marzocchi forks can't be that bad on a bike, can they?
TBH you've only helped out on a Raptor that had been neglected of everything but a set of tyres and engine oil, maybe once you get your hands on one that is in half decent working order in the first place, it may throw up some suprises. Don't knock owt til you've tried it, or at least played with proper.....s'pose that makes mine the ginuea pig then! :)

that will be swarf in the engine, rusted bolts etc etc ;)

dizzyblonde

nah, only the engine is Suzuki, all the bolts are good quality, non rotting, cheese free, surprisingly! As for the electrickery, again much better.....

.....oh dear, I have now put a jinx upon myself :)

well said dizzy. dont know what half of it means but raptors are nice and low, sound amazing and look a bit mean. as for riding them (I have forgotten!)

as for technical stuff - that is where DD comes in
