Hi all,

Anyone on here using a Motrax front paddock stand (the aluminium one) on a pointy? My rear stand is fine on bobbins etc but the front doesn't seem to grip under the fork well and skews the steering when I try to lift it?

Works Ok on other bikes but the fork lowers on the SV don't seem very compatible with the rubber self adjusty blocks on the stand?

Its now holding my bike up in the garage and its great!

Yeah, but I already have the Motrax front stand. SO should I get something else or will it work? Can maybe make some alterations to get it to fit?

My motrax front stand works great on a curvy

Motrax on a curvy here as well - works fine on the standard bike. On the SRAD front end though I can't get the wheel out while it's on the stand which kind of defeats the object.

I was thinking about getting one of those but hadn't heard any reviews. You're obviously finding it sturdy enough.

Is there a fork length difference between legs on the pointy then? That's what it seems like when you try and lift with it? Maybe better off with a headstock stand or the Harris one with adjustable pin heights?

I have an alloy front paddock stand and it's completely and utterly useless, the hinged rubber lined pads slip out every time I have tried to use it. I can't remember the make, it's not Motrax but it may well be the same item with a different badge. The rear one that came with it is fine, though I am using bobbins so not much chance of anything slipping out.

Yeah, that sounds exactly the same. My rear is fine too (ooh er missus). Oh, well, guess I'll be in the market for a different front stand then. Looking at head lift stands, anyone use the Biketek or the Champion or MotoGP version on Demon Tweeks or should I just bite bullet and get a pitbull?

Try swapping the holders over on the stand. My pointy wouldn't sit right until I swapped the pegs over on the stand.

Which stand is that then? I had another look this evening and the right leg is definitely longer than the left due to the clamp bolt.

Can't see any way of making the rubber pads on the Motrax stand work with that height mismatch? It just grips one side and then moves the steering as you try and lift.

'scuse the shonky phone cam shots. All tonight has proved so far is that my forks are more corroded around the base than I thought and my garage floor needs fixing and re-painting ;)

That looks identical to mine (just had a look, they are labelled "Dr. Bike"); cheap re-badged tat as I suspected! To be fair the rest of it is fine, it's just the silly hinged rubber pads that don't work. If I can build up any enthusiasm I'm going to bin those bits and fabricate some U shaped ones that will 'cup' the bottom of the fork legs (and take into account the different lengths of the forks!).

EDIT: Might be worth packing up one of the platforms with some thick rubber etc. to compensate?

Same here, the rear is fine with cotton real thingy's but the front can be a real pain, especially in the paddock if the surface isnt smooth, im looking for a piece of ply that I can ride onto and fingers crossed the stand will work a little better. The under the yoke jobbies are the most practical!

Looks like I'll be getting a head lift type stand sometime soon then. Cheers for all the answers guys.
