Shoplifter injured in Atlanta (Now that was a well written Police report.)
Shoplifter injured in Atlanta
From the police report:
Orville Smith, a store manager for Best Buy in Augusta , Georgia , said he observed a male customer, later identified as Tyrone Jackson of Augusta , on surveillance cameras putting a laptop computer under his jacket. When confronted the man became irate, knocked down an employee, drew a knife and ran for the door.
Outside on the sidewalk were four Marines collecting toys for the "Toys for Tots" program. Smith said the Marines stopped the man, but he stabbed one of the Marines, Cpl. Phillip Duggan, in the back; the injury did not appear to be severe.
After Police and an ambulance arrived at the scene Cpl. Duggan was transported for treatment.
The subject was also transported to the local hospital with two broken arms, a broken ankle, a broken leg, several missing teeth, possible broken ribs, multiple contusions, assorted lacerations, a broken nose and a broken jaw, injuries he sustained when he slipped and fell off of the curb after stabbing the Marine.

That's hilarious! The mother of all falls seemingly:rolleyes:
hahahahaha i like this very much.
shame the marines never managed to get a hold of him before he took a tragic stumble off the 4" kerb ;)

Thought this was another Snopes case but.
This happened on the 25th Nov 2010 (give or take a day)
News reports don't go into the police report but one does make mention of how well trained US Marines are.

Ah nothing like praising army goons for smashing a man to bits, well done all of you.
i bet you'd feel a little different if the robbing scumbag was one of your famil tho. Even shopliffting scum have a right to not be beaten this badly but hey lets glorify even more bad behaviour from us soldiers cos they dont do enough fo it as it is.
Sad.

where is my popcorn...?
of course its not good to beat the living out of somebody, on the other hand it isnt right to go round stabbing people. play with fire and fingers get burnt. cant do the time etc etc.

yeh but there is such a thing as a sensible response. I did security work and had a knife pulled on me (in toys r us of all bloody places!) and i did what needed to be done. He had a very sore throat for a while but i didnt resort to over the top violence without justification.
I thought soldiers were supposed to be trained to hold back that kind of beahviour and be "honourable" and all that jazz.
Like i say, imagine the theif was yuour drug addict brother who you cared a lot about and were trying to help him change his ways, would you be happy that this happened to him/ i dont think so.
2 of those goons could easily have sudued him and held him down till cops arrived but this is simply barbarism for the pleasure of it and safe in the knowledge that in the grand old usofa these "heros" will never be held to account for it.
not being funny mate, but if someone stabbed/attempted to kill one of my good friends, which i imagine these marines were very good friends, i would beat that person down until he wasnt able to stand up on his own.

To be fair, the actual news reports (if you google them - CBS covered it) don't mention the injuries sustained.
I suspect that how hurt he got WAS an embellishment to make a good "viral" story.

I dont disagree with that at all. Someone pulled a knife on me of a mate and i'd put him down hard too. But to break both his arms etc, simply overkill and barbarism for the sake of it safe in the knowledge they will get away with it.
What seperates us from animals is our ability to show restraint. Or should we all just turn to street justice now???
I think the last paragraph was just added for good measure. Along with the name. But hey, never let the facts get in the way of a good story :p
Here is the origional report

As far as I'm concerned if you stab someone in the back, thats attempted murder, and you are getting off lightly with a few broken limbs.

Thanks dude, its hard being me sometimes, lol.
Funny story...a few months back on a regular Soho night out it kicked off a bit with some drunk who really was looking for a good kicking. Now i'll be the first to say its usually me who steps to the front and gives it large but this time it wasnt and one of the sohoers was so shocked he cam up and said "My god, if there was one thing i never thought i'd see it was you CALMING a situation down!" lol.
The worst part of this whole picture to me is imagine what those same thugs do to innocemt men, women and children when they are in iraq or afghanistan and the gloves are really off.

Ah the Mai Lai massacre you mean? Yeh its astonishing what humans will do to other humasn simply cos thier politicians tell them they are "the enemy" and then the military teaches them to "hate the enemy" and you end up withi this kind of behaviour. And then they come home all full of themselves and carry on in the same way until they get caught and locked up.
jeez i could post a hundred stories of us soldiers doing dispicable things to their own after returning from doing despicable things to foreigners.
For those of you who dont know about the Mai Lai massacre you will find this interesting reading http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Lai_Massacre

Epic, deserved every last injury imo.
Dont act the hardman and break the law if you can't take a possible bit of vigilantism.
He tried to kill someone, after robbing a store. Break both his arms, all his fingers, and wack his ballbag with a mallet. Justice served. Could even save the courts some time.

where is the "Like" Button ?
1) Term for a drug user. Possibly originating from the manner in which solvent addicts imbibe glue; they put the substance into a bag then repeatedly breath in and out with the bag over their mouth.
