I've had min for about 6 years, used about half a dozen nights/year.
Its an investment, will end up at < £15/year over time...
Think about the ease of carrying it, the speed/ease at which it goes up and the Vango build quality stopping you getting wet, its not expensive then
I just bought a Vango Banshee 200 from fleabay...about 40 quid...highly recommended...google the reviews.

Tempest for me too, great little tent - takes all of 5 mins to put up / take down and packs away to nowt. When you're lying awake at 4am with rain dripping on your face in a cheap tent, you'll (like I did!) decide to invest in a decent one!

Buy crap then end up buying one for every trip and get wet!
We had to rescue uggins of cheap sh*t "festival" tents at the somerset AR when there was a slight breeze.
We've got a vango one, it's got a massive porch for all the kit and it's sturdy enough to withstand a bit of a breeze. Not as sturdy as a proper expedition tent but nowhere near as dear. Reasonably light, easy to assemble etc.

ive got a gelert tornado 3 ....paid less than £35 for it and its a cracking tent loads of room put up in under 10 mins and is small and light (53cmx18cmx18cm packed and 4.8kg )

I have the Vango Delta 200. It works. But it's heavy and not that easy to carry on the bike. Best avoided. I'm gong to invest in a Banshee.
Dave - have a look at the ARTNW threads on Rideouts, the action happens at the end of April.. It stands for Annual Ride That Never Was, cos Ollie's Yorkshire thing beat me in a vote off. Not that I'm still p*ssed off, you understand;)

the more i think about it the more im going with my bivvi bag, it does me on exercise and packs down small and above it all i have it so no spending beer tokens on it
:)
cheers though
I like my Vango Alpha 300... upgraded a bit ago because it was a tight fit with the airbed, but it packs down nearly as small. Perfect for bike trips, as it wasn't as wide as my panniers.

i am thinking of this one Zenith 2 Man Ultralight Tent but i cant find any reviews on it
I wouldn't go for that - looks a bit small (90 x 120 x 220 cm) for both man and kit. I'd say you'd be looking at least a two-man to be reasonably comfortable.

the space isnt that bad, i wont be taking much for a one/two night trip, what is putting me off is the lack of reviews.

Even if you're only taking a change of clothes, you've got to have room for all of your bike kit and panniers. What I'd be tempted to do in your position is to take your bike gear to a camping shop, because you'll be amazed at how much room it takes up despite all efforts to the contrary ;)

i have looked into it i can fit everything i need in a small tent, but the lack of reviews on it is worrying
Dave, FFS spend the £££, you won't regret it.

I'll second Mick on this. We shared this tent 2 or three years back while riding round France and there was more than enough room for two and quite possibly room for three with bags of space in the porch section for all of our kit.

Edit: I have just noticed that it's now listed on the gelert site at £79.99! I would guess a bit of shopping about would probably halve that price though.
Edit 2: And here we are - Gelert Tornado 3 at £39.99 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gelert-Tornado-3-Person-Man-Camping-Tent-/110666377311?pt=UK_SportsLeisure_HikingCamping_Ten ts_JN&hash=item19c43ae85f)

I was given great advice here, a few years back. A 2 man tent is suitable for one with all gear. I bought a 2 man Vango spectre which is tiny but fine for bike meets etc. Nothing grand but fits in rucksack with sleeping bag.

Another vote here for the vango.
I've got the 2 man and its a great piece of kit.
I also use a bivi bag on the odd occaision too if I want to travel really light.
Bivi bags can also be used to store kit outside the tent but in the dry too so make the tent more roomy :)
