View Full Version : What boots would you buy for £200?

I'm looking to get some new boots and need some opinions. Budget is max £200 and I'd be happier spending less!

I commute daily in all weathers so they need to be waterproof. I'd like them to look good with leathers, textiles or jeans as I'll be wearing one of the three with them at some point.

I have no idea where to start when it comes to boots so any help at all would be great!

Sidi Canyons, about £150, seen me through 2 AR's and should be ok for a while longer.

Sole is more like a normal boot, so comfortable for walking around all day and SHOULD be replaceable by an everyday cobbler.

EDIT: Added a pic

I have the SMX4 and they are really comfy on the bike, wouldn't want to walk too far in them though.

Always kept my feet dry although I try not to ride in the rain if I can help it.

Seen them for around £160 I think

I also have TCX Gore-Tex boots and can't fault them, mine are an older Oxtar branded touring boot not a competizione, but it's the same quality of stuff.

At the higher end of your budget I know but Daytona's are amazing...

Altbergs, and get them fitted exactly to your size.

Another vote for TCX competizione gore tex. Always had SIDI's previously, but these are much better and comfy.

Daytona's are nice on your feet, available with gore-tex and they'll go with anything :)
I have some Toron XCR's

The TCX ones I mentioned along with some others have their own 5 page thread here: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=136574

Very well recommended on here.

I have some Sidi Vertigo boots, they were £140 last July and I have worn them every time I have been on my bike since. I commute on the bike, so they have been worn in rain and cold (I only left the bike at home when the snow was here) and I just wear normal 'sports socks'.

No cold or wet feet so far. They took a while to wear in, but now they are very comfortable.

Sidi boots, like the ones mentioned earlier are really nice and do the trick!

I had some, comfy as slippers and really waterproof till the sole chucked itself off after 5k miles.

Arlen Ness do something very similar for the same price with a better build quality.

+1 for Sidi, I got B2 goretex's last year and really like them. Think I paid £200ish at J&S. Would highly recommend as I use them for daily commute and they do hold the water out as well as giving feet 'some' breathability in sweltering heat. They were the most comfortable out of the ones I've tried too...

If you don't want a race style boot, then TCX Infinity Gortex are a great boot

My Puma boots have finally given up the ghost after 2 years and only because the bolt that's replaced the broken gear lever has worn through - new lever finally on order with eBay! :) Went out and tried on the TCX today - lovely looking boot, but uncomfortable on my ankles, tried some SIDIs too which were nice but settled on Alpine Star's SMX5 WP which were very comfortable in the shop. http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/Alpinestar-S-MX-5-WP_ASLV9.aspx Looking forward to trying them out on the bike! hein gericke have got a good deal on Alpinestars SMX-Plus Boots

£179 still not what anyone would call cheap but seem to be not too bad (vs other shops and ebay)
