I'm lost...!! After checking other sites and forums there is a hole world of choice for another shock, from a gsxr.....636....zx10r is there a lot of difference or are they pretty much the same?
I'm 6'4 and 17st so does that make a difference?

Just be aware that most shocks from other bikes will require you to cut the toolbox/battery housing to make room for the external reservoir. The 06-07 ZX10R shock is the easiest swap for the pointy, it only requires removal of the plastic shield on the front of the battery box, but is a little longer than the original so will raise the rear a bit. The ZZR1400 shock will also fit in the same way and has a much stiffer spring fitted which might be more suitable for 17st and is the same length as standard.
