View Full Version : Hot start trouble.
hello, bike starts first time from cold so nothing wrong there but i had a run this afternoon and when i stopped for petrol it was hard to start again, also stopped later on for a fag and it was hard to start once again.by hard to start i mean it takes quite a bit of cranking before it catches.
anything i should be looking at?
thank you.
p.s it`s only just started doing this now the weather is warmer!

ehhhhhh? shouldn't be! Is dave missin me ?
Are you putting choke back on again when you start him up? Don't like that, if its already warm.
Its a new battery, but just check everythings tight, as its one o those ones with the stupid blocks on the terminal that always get loose.

hmm hot strating can be the idle mixture a bit off. Curvies are prone to sticking chokes too.

Hmm I seem to remember Electro's curvy having the same problems on Saturday...YC said if it was ok starting once cooled down then it can't be too much to worry about?
My little YBR had this issue on Friday too when it was a scorcher and I know it's running lean, dunno if that would be a factor.

Must admit, the chokes haven't been looked at for a while, but then YC did a super job of unsticking them last time, and tends to look there whenever hes had his head under the tank.

Is it old fuel or fresh? Winter fuel can evaporate too fast so you have to refill carb every start.
brand new fuel,i have filled up at least 4 times since i got the bike off lou, however today was even hotter and the bike behaved as normal so it cant be much although it`s popping and farting a bit more than it used to when rolling off the throttle.

leaky exhaust, prob near the engine end in that case. Makes it run lean.
