I have a series of small holes in the welding just before the silencer. When I put my hand round them there is quite a lot of air being forced out. I'm hoping this is the reason why my bike has all of a sudden started to backfire, splutter and generally sound a lot louder than usual.

(Please excuse the out of focus foreground - old camera phone pics)

Can anyone recommend a way to repair this?

if its the original exhaust cut it off and fit an aftermarket can-your bike will look and sound how its meant to

Nah, it's an aftermarket can. The welding is just after where the aftermarket can clamps on to the system.

you could try the brazing over the holes and see if that keeps them at bay, if not, new link pipe?
