Guys n girls

Just a heads up that for those that are interested in such things, then the Annual Mayday run happens this Bank Holiday Monday.

It starts at Locksbottom and ends up in Hastings. The route is essentialy a run down the A21.

I will be in the carpark between Nettos and the Black Horse pub about 10am and will be taking a long route round to Hastings via Rye

So whos with me?

Be careful - Kent plod are cutting back on their bike team and are binning the bikesafe scheme in preference of prosecution rather than education... they (along with sussex) have unmarked bikes all camera'd up and will be all out to raise revenue... (my brother and his wife are both kent plod) last year there were 7 speed scamera vans along the A21 into Hastings so just go easy (especially as the police managed to kill a woman on the A21 the day after mayday through their poor driving)....

I shall be running around on the Mayday run. I've got no solid plans as of yet, but being based in Hastings I tend to ride Northish earlyish in the morning and ride back to be part of it rather than just hop 5 minutes to the seafront. Won't be going as far up as Locksbottom though. Rye does sound good, havn't done the Mayday run from that direction as of yet. Although I frequently run out there just out and about, some good roads around Rye.

I shall be keeping my eyes dead peeled on my speedo and the road ahead though. Will be on my best behaviour, after knowing a few people being caught out by undercover coppers on bikes (GSXR1000s in standard colours, stock exhausts, rider in plain black) I've had an eye on my mirrors and been very cautious.

Theres enough Gixxer and R1 clowns for them to chase :)

I'm game. It sounds like I'll have to let off steam on the way to the start line though before trundling down to Hastings with everyone else.
Where Locksbottom is I really don't know yet. I'll find it though.

Follow the A21 and stop when you get to shed loads of bikes parked on the pavement...central reservation etc etc. Turn left at lights pub is down on the left.

The route that i am looking at taking will be the A21 to Tunbridge wells, then the A267 via Wessons Cafe, then off to Hastings. Ride home will be via Rye i reckon.

Locksbottom via A267 - how long do you think that would take?

AM heading down, but not on the A21, too many coppers and prats, usually head down through edenbridge then ashdown forest, may try and spot you guys down there if you are all on Sv's

Yup and a shotgun exhaust, again, also rare on an SV :)

Oooooo will be easy to spot then :D Mine isn't all that special and unique, but will be down there nonetheless. Ah wait I have a small dent in the left hand side of the tank. Thats pretty unique!! So blue naked pointy with a few extras on, see the signature, also with added small dent which I still havn't forgiven myself about.

Just a quick heads up to all attending, remembered about it just a minute ago. Watch where you park when you get into Hastings. Most places are parking spots, its a kind of park wherever you can find a spot you can fit in. No traffic wardens around as far as I know, last year I parked on the edge of a roundabout. But to those parking in the middle of the road, it can be done over the hatched areas, but I advise you not to. The main road along the seafront where everyone gathers is still open to cars, coaches, lorries, everything. Last year several struggled along the seafront squeezing between the bikes parked on the side and in the middle of the road and apparantly 3 bikes were knocked over, I rescued one by picking it up off the sidestand myself, if I didn't, it would have gone down. So careful where you go.

Will you tell me again how to do those wheelies? Did not understand much instruction from below the helmet:)

What's the easiest place to meet up then?

Sadly, according to Bill's Facebook updates over the last couple of days, they're having car troubles in France. So we could stop there for tea, but we'd need to break in and also supply our own milk.

I've checked your departure time as 10am, no chance for me. Hope you have a good time. Watch the openings and valleys. It's breezy!

Same, but I'll keep an eye out for a group of SVs down there!

Thanks all for a fun day. Thank you esp to Viney for the lovely roads.

It was a bit windy! In fact I almost got toppled by a gust when I was coming out of the car park in Locksbottom - that would have been embarrassing.

Oh, and a cheeky wheelie by a certain someone didn't go unnoticed.

Daveog - out of the 5 of us, only 2 were on SVs - hope you had a good day too.

Twas a good day, I was down there, saw a couple of SVs around. Saw Viney's go past with the nice paint and the shotgun exhaust. Looked good.
Was pretty breezy and not as busy as I expected it if I'm honest. But was a good day all in all, and as far as I know. Didn't get caught being a naughty boy :D

Missed this thread... Could have hooked up with you lot!

Had a good day, very well organised I though, wardens showing most people where to park including myself...

Saw one idiot riding a track bike... No lights, nothing! Hope he got nicked.

I went straight down the a21, wasn't bad, although was riding at 9:30 so quite early!

Thanks Cazza, went down on my own as I knew I wouldn't make Locksbottom by 10am - further delayed when I realised I hadn't got my ear plugs!! Got down there at 1230 and had an ice cream then saw some people I knew and hooked up with them for a good ride up the A22.

The marshalling seemed to have ceased by the time I got there and it was a bit of a free for all on parking up by the old fishing huts!! :D

Up for meeting up with some fellow orgers for a ride soon!!

nice to play with others and as others have said; thanks to all involved, good bimble down and much pee taking of the "image bikers" on display, got to blow away a few cobwebs on a 170 mile run home getting in just as the light went, and then promptly feel asleep on the sofa :smt102

Shame I got there just a bit late to say hello.

We only stopped there as the 'fun' route my Dad had planned turned into the 'I'm not entirely sure how we got here route'

Was an awesome meet! We walked down to have a nose. Some lovely bikes. Saw a couple of nice and most importantly SV's. Sadly our bikes are still in Essex waiting to be collected. Took over a hundred photos, which i will post a link too on Monday when we are finally connected to the internet!
Hope all that went had a fab day and got home safe. X
