Spent 5 hours on my sprint yesterday in preparation for the ARTNW weekend, gave it a mop with fine compound then two coats of £7k a tub carnuba wax that my mate gave me (not the tub, just a bit)

About 2" in diameter and 3" high.
When my mates boss bought it a few years ago they american company were offering free refills for life, they have stopped that for new customers now, so considering they do a lot of expensive cars, its actually good value.

Weird. Why not just charge a normal fee for a one off pot.

Crazy warped business freaks...

P.S. Nice shiny bike, i guess. :)

Thing is, they charge the same anount now but no refills at all i think :smt104

The money spent on high end products is massive, but then thats why customers are willing to pay £600 for a paint correction and £300-£400 for top ups.

Yeah same company, not sure its exactly the same product, my mate was the one who told me about how they stopped doing refills, guess thats incorrect unless its a different wax.

You should see my bike. It'll blow this one out of the water for shiny-ness.

Surely if it's re-filled for free for life you could buy a load of empty tubs. Fill them with wax and stick em on ebay.

Probably be making a profit within a year.

PS, 5 hours cleaning a bike??? What did you do? Strip it and re-biuld it?

At that price I would expect it to even be able to polish a turd :p

No, they would get suspicious if your usage suddenly went up that much.

Tbh, I could've shaved 90 mins off that, I was eating etc in that 5 hours.

I went to the trouble of masking off the plastic panels so I didn't get cutting compound on them. I hadn't washed it since I went out with you so that took an hour on it's own.

Time flies when youre cleaning :)

Looking very nice, mirror finish one of the advantages of black.

If I spend 5 hours on the bike, her indoors comes out, kisses the bike, wipes it off ever so gently, and asks if I'd like to bring it up to the bedroom. Sarcastic cow! ;-)

Yes but if you leave them on they burn into the paint, so regular cleaning will help this, also a good wax will protect the paintwork and also make it easier to clean next time.

I wouldnt do this on a cheaper bike tbh but £7.5k on a bike is a lot of money for a plaything, to me anyway so I want to look after it best I can.

That said if I had a curvy, I wouldn't wash that ever as it may improve the looks ;)

Is this Zymol was?

I used to love detailing cars, my 106 Rallye was immaculate.

Bikes not so much, they are a pain because you can never get the chain area perfectly clean and thats frustrating.

I'll let you come see a chain and surrounding area looking like it just came out of the factory crate one day ;)

Paddock stand, parrafin and a paint brush is your friend, followed by wash & rinse & repeat until all the grit is gone, followed by compressed air, followed by WD40 on a cloth.
