View Full Version : Best street races?
Before you say it i know, its silly immature and pointless and endangers others as well as yourself.[-X
But i'm sure you have all been tempted into it at some point!
Last few days ive raced both a £126,000 ford gt and just now a 5.0L V10 BMW M5 and its great to feel that my £2000 sv650 can keep up with them, well until about 130mph, but luckly both times when we have reached that speed the cars have had to slow for one reason or another meaning i didn't get beat on top end!
What kind of cars have you guys played with and won... or not?
trounced a Lamborghini Gallardo (http://img.recentcars.net/wallpapers/Lamborghini-Gallardo-4.jpg) on the Hawes road on A 2001 Hornet :D he was trying too! :)

One of the reasons i love bikes, just soo little money for the same performance as hugely expensive cars! And yet the insurance is still cheap :P

A Nissan GTR appeared from nowhere behind me today, right up my ****. I didn't even attempt the race, just waved it past lol

I havent done any exotic cars like you guys but a few boy racer guys have had it :)
I normally bottle it tbh when the speeds get silly.
Just remember when the lambo or M5's are thrashing their cars to try and keep up with you, you're getting 40mpg, they're getting 7mpg ;), makes it even sweeter.
I've had a boy racer up my ass one night, caught up with me when i was doing just shy of a ton, at night, didn't realise if it was cops or a racer, i slowed and turned off, he dropped a gear a to the sound of a hiss shot off aha
Had a mini off the lights once, didn't even realise he wanted to race till he wheel span off next to me and i just casually beat him without even trying haha
Sometimes i should slow and think about the speed im doing but sometimes you just cant face letting them think their silly car is better then my bike :)

I'm very wary of cars come up my chuff, especially at night, exactly the tactics some police use to get you to speed up.
A cop guy I know had some cops try it on him with a scooby but he recognised the car so didn't fall for it.

I had a Ferrari something (an older one, maybe 90's) overtake me a couple if weeks back while I was day dreaming and didn't notice the yuppies swish by me on the right side of a country A road. They waved to me as they went by....Cheeky gits. I soon overtook them and "waved" back.
I've done some silly stuff in/on both... But a car is much easier for your average joe to drive quicker on an empty twisty road than a bike.
95% of the bikes I come up against in my car I can corner and brake quicker than, in fact most of the time bikes will hold me up it's just the straights I don't stand a chance on. I'm probably quicker in a car than I ever will be on a bike though.

BOOM! So true. I love pointing this out to people. When I'm so young and can go faster than their rich daddy for a fraction of the cost. And the rush is so much more severe on a bike than in a car.
I've played with Ferrari's and Maserati's and R8's and billions of boy racers. I only ever compete with acceleration (e.g. off the lights, up to speed limit), and then stay at that speed and let them overtake. Shows them that they've spent 20x as much for speed they can't use often.

Model of car?
Ive tried to be the bigger man when racing about and stopping when the speeds/driving gets silly, but sometimes i just hate to think people in their crappy cars think they have out preformed me and my bike.
Hate to say it but i will often go out of my way to have a bit of a race about with someone haha

My worst fear i think, especially because i know i would probably fall for it drop a gear and take off:rolleyes: At night its soo hard to tell who is behind you.

This is soo true. Give someone the same car as me and good luck trying to beat me (I drive cars really fast :-)). When it comes to the twisties I'd rather not try and keep up with the guy in the car if I'm on my bike. Will thrash them on the straights though.
I wish I could ride as well as I drive but I've sadly come to the realisation that won't ever happen:(

Not hard. ;)
This thread reminds me of our spin in the Peaks a few years back G. Remember that black Type R on the Snake Pass. I think Carty was with us at the time as well...
