I did some work on the bike at the weekend that involved removing the radiator. When I removed the temp sensor it left half its thread behind in the radiator. The temp sensor is knackered and will need replacing. Im not sure if the thread on the radiator is shot as well. Would it be possible to put a helicoil in the radiator? I assume so, could anyone tell me what the thread is on the temp sender? or any other bright ideas to avoid replacing the rad if the thread for the temp sensor is indeed fubared?
Thanks
Ben

Edit: yes, yes, I realise I spelt radiator wrong in the title.

Doh!
This is the fan temperature switch, rather than the temperature switch the feeds the dash / warning light.

The short answer is you're best placed to inspect this thread and let us know what it looks like.

Hopefully the thread is damaged on the (relatively cheap) brass fan switch, not the alloy radiator.

I know the thread is damaged on the fan switch (thanks for clarifying), as I said, it left half the thread behind, which I cleared out. I think/hope the thread in the radiator is ok. The bike is my only form of transport at the moment and I managed to get it screwed back in using the remaining thread on the switch. it leaked slightly but I have made a temporary repair. I am sorting a replacement fan switch but just wanted to have my bases covered when it arrives in case there is damage to the thread in the radiator.
