View Full Version : Anyone near Peterborough on the 16th?
Hey all.
I've been put on a two day training course in Peterborough on the 16th and 17th of May so I'll have an over night stay rather than the 100 mile each way in rush hour. Will anyone be about? I think the the day will finish at about 4pm on the Monday so I'll have several hours to kill before bed time. Is there a good route in the area to clear the cobwebs of the day away? I'll post up exactly where I'll post up exactly where I'm staying when the rooms booked and see if there is a good pub near by. The training is at the Holiday Inn on the west side near the golf course if anyone knows it.
Cheers,
Richard.

My mum usually stops over on a Tuesday night but if she's free then i'll get her to come over Monday instead and we can pop out for a blast and a coke! It'll be my first weekend back riding after surgery so I wont be breaking any land speed records though :p
Cheers KJ. It's the Monday night that I'll be over your way. Tuesday I'll be leaving a dust trail getting home asap ;)

Edited for you, Mum and daughter combo, plus drugs......good luck Rich.
I've been put into the lovely Premier Inn on the west side of town, next to the golf course. Dinner, bed and breakfast all on the training budget of my school. Anyone fancy a ride or drink on Monday afternoon/evening? KJ are you still going to be around?

Can't do that night unfortunately, prior engagement
Have fun though
Doesn't the A14 suck?!
Made it from near Lowestoft to the West side of Peterborough in under two hours, with a fuel stop :)
The average cameras on the A14 around the Cambridge area meant that everyone was doing between 50-60 mph though. I employed some tactical filtering, and had to due to the large majority of traffic sitting in the right hand lane! Several didn't even know I was there until I drew passed them (carefully on the left side). I'm very glad I don't have to commute on it every day, or even have it as a local route. I'll keep my bog standard A road into Norwich. My average speed speed is much higher too :)

Yep, its the pits!! The 25 mile stretch from mine to the M11 junction for Addenbrookes can take nearly 90 minutes at the wrong time of day. Unfortunately I had to make the trip again yesterday cos Im in so much pain :-(
Sorry I couldnt ride out Rich but it was the right decision. Another time!
Q: Given that the cameras are forward facing, would you risk 70+ if the road was clear?
I was doing mostly 70+ most of the way. 107 miles in 1hr 50mins ;)
I hope you start feeling better soon KJ. Don't worry about the ride. Having been sat down all day listening to the speaker all I wanted was a few beers ans an early night.
