Hi everyone!

I just picked up my 2000 SV650S and I love it. 2 Owners and 12k on the clock. :smt007

I noticed there is a plug under the rear seat with a dust cover/ water proof cover over it. It's 2 prong "male" connector like the ones you would get on a set of heated grips. Does anyone know if this is standard and if so what it is? It's does look like its part of the bike and not an add on. The reason I ask is I was going to install a 12V socket to charge my satnav and I was wondering if this plug could be used with the correct female socket on the other end.

Thanks,

Matt

Kind of sounds like it could be the "leave attached to your battery" lead from an Optimate.

In this case I think a picture will paint a thousand words.

So, any chance of a piccy ?

Looks like an optimate cable - minus the waterproof cap...

Not too clear a pic - does it look like one of these - with a round and a semi-round "pin"

Yes that's it. The waterproof is there I just took it off for the photo. Forgive my noob question but what's an optimate?

David, do you know the difference between male and female ???? LOL

Thats just the pic from the Maplins Catalogue.

However the gender is based on the copper contacts and while on the outside the labelling may look incorrect, they are labelled correctly.

Yes those ARE the lady-boys and drag-kings of the connector world.

You should know things are not always as the seem, having spent enough Fridays on Frith St...

A valid point and well presented.

And another biker screams in frustration as he realises that, for the 4th time in a row, he's sold his bike with the Optimate cable still fitted. :D
