Worlds cheapest places to buy unleaded fuel:
1. Venezuela : 3p per litre
2. Saudi Arabia : 8p per litre
3. Tripoli : 9p per litre
4. Ashgabat, Turkmenistan : 12p per litre
5. Manama, Bahrain : 13p per litre
6. Kuwait City : 14p per litre
7. Doha, Qatar : 15p per litre
8. Cairo : 19p per litre
9. Muscat, Oman : 20p per litre
10. Algiers : 20p per litre
WE PAY NEARLY 10X TIMES THIS!!!
I understand import/export add to the price but in Venezuela's case we pay £1.35 more!!
what the average wage though??

Remember the cost of living and salaries etc. In some cases they may only be paying 3p per litre but they may only earn the equivalent of £1 per day.
I dont know if that the case or not for all or any of those counties.
But yes it probably is cheaper else where.
what the average wage though??
Ven $12,600
Saudi $24,200
Lybia $13,800
UK $35,100
All from https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html Cant be bothered to look the rest up
erm, go live in Venezuela then? How is their economy on the whole? Do they pay £2 for a tin of beans? Its pretty much all relative, if we dont pay X for fuel then we get taxed on something else, simple economics really
erm, go live in Venezuela then?
Ok

To be fair Saudi is not not far off, if not exceeding minimum wage in the UK. Cost my mate £60 odd to fill up a Corsa!!! My C4 Grand Picasso costs £75!

Personally I don't see what the cost of living and average wage has got to do with it (that much).
If Esso/Shell/BP/Q8/Texaco or whoever can afford to refine the crude, turn it into petrol, transport it to Venezuela or wherever, where it then gets sold for no more than the loose change in our pockets, then it could & should be the same price over here.
Yes I do understand that it's all relative; in that Venezulens couldn't afford to pay in taxes what we do, but it begs the question, just what is the base cost of a litre of unleaded at our pumps - by that I mean if we didn't pay ANY FUEL DUTY AT ALL what would 1L cost???
If it can get pumped out the ground, turned to petrol, shipped to South America for mere pennies, then it must be costing the same to get it here as well............???????.........
Yes, I understand that ours is so high because of taxes, but this just goes to how much our successive governments are ripping us off :smt076:smt076:smt097
What with all the fuel duty, road tax, insurance premium tax, income tax, VAT, national insurance I shall expect all our roads to be repaired this instant and a gold plated wheelie bin too appear outside my door by Friday morning at the latest.:smt082:smt044:smt044

This is what i was getting at, notice how none of the countries are European and most are Oil rich countries, so why so cheap there and extorsionate here (disregarding taxes etc)

When you look at the actual underlying product cost - it equates to approx 48p per litre that the petrol companies etc take (after VAT, duty, petrol stations cut etc).
Now take into consideration the fact that Venezuela as do some other developing countries - do NOT add duty / VAT to fuel - in fact the govts subsidise it. This in turn leads to the kind of prices they see. The idea being that by having fuel at such a low cost, makes it more accesible to the poorer who have vehicles and thus actually increases the countries ability to function / trade - thus generating further revenue.
Bottom line, we live in an overcrowded country with an overused road network system that requires the govt to add masses amounts of duty.
EDIT - Just to add, what we would consider a poor road service in this country would be considered good in many. When you factor in the fact that 90% of our roads are probably better than a very limited few in the countries mentioned....its not suprising. Plus, its not like our road vehicle licence goes towards the roads anyway!!!
PS - That doesn't mena I feel any less sick than you on the petrol position.....but its just something we are going to have to live with.
makes me sick to. oil prices have fallen but as per usual not at the pump.

Yes it's annoying, but at the end of the day most of those are countries which are oil rich.
They can sell it to who they want at what price they want. So they sell it to their own people for bugger all, charge us about 6 times as much, and then our government doubles that.

The countries listed all produce crude oil that not only requires minimum refinement to turn it in to petrol, but they have massive reserves of it also. The stuff from the North Sea is very costly to convert to gasoline and so is ,(if I am not mistaken)used for other purposes.Petrol is brought in or the oil to produce it is other countries.

could also be state run fuel stations...or goverment concessions with the oil companie. you plunder our resources, you give us petrol...

Some crude is brought in by ship and some through the pipeline from the North Sea.

The facts are, we and the west are the big money earners for the oil companies, even take out tax and it's still more than a lot of countries.
We subsidise the pi55 pot countries, it's the obscene wealth of the Arab countries that really gets me.
Gold plated cars etc, while we are feeling the pain of huge fuel prices, which the oil companies control by barrel production.
It all stinks, but it's us that has to pay for it.
it's the obscene wealth of the Arab countries that really gets me.
Bet it peeves 'em off even more seeing as about 0.01% of them enjoy that wealth in the ways of ridiculous palaces, cars etc, whilst slave labour is shipped in from India and other surrounding places to keep costs down.

Yeah I agree there dude, the west pays charitable funds to half these places yet there is some very wealthy people living the high life.
Trouble is the oil isnt state owned, do they don't see the wealth, exactly the same way roman abramovich got his billions.
