Hi all,
I have sold a guitar amp on ebay, the winning bidder was from hungry, he emailed me to say that he was going to organise collection of the amp, and asking how he was going to pay.
I emailed back saying that was fine, and i will need either payment through paypal prior to collection, or cash on collection, and to tell me when he was collecting.
That was on Monday, and i am still to have had communication back. at what satage can i offer it to the next highest bidder? and how do i go about it? just email him and say if i dont not hear back from you by 20:00 on Thursday 12th may i will be offering it to the next bidder?
Never had this happen before
Cheers

Contact the buyer in your 'sold items' section and send him a email
Some folk can take an age to sort themselves out, but I had the same thing happen to me.
You can also report a non paying bidder which lets him have a couple of days to sort it out before you can do the 2nd chance option
If he doesn't pay, you can relist the item again at no charge

ok cool, i will send him a email asking what is going on, if not then i will report him as non paying,
Cheers for that.

Make sure you dont get rolled over on this mate. If you use paypal i have seen many abroad sales go pear shaped. The buyer claims back the money from paypal saying not as described and you get a box back with a brick in it. I refuse to sell overseas now due to the frequency of these type of scams.

They can, do and will mate. I'm on another forum and read posts regarding paypal on a weekly basis. The last was a guy sold a set of golf clubs to an eastern euro country. The buyer filed a complaint saying they were too short!!!! Paypal reversed the £300 and the guy is still waiting for his clubs. They were standard clubs nothing saying anything about being short as they weren't and paypal sided with the buyer which is normally always the case. I hope all goes well with your sale if the guy pays but the scams are happening more and more

I had a couple of overseas guys trying to buy my Sat Nav on ebay, but I told them to feck off.
Although I did eventually sell it to a Dutch guy, as the bloke in the UK didn't pay!
But I would agree with Electro, no foreign buyers

I has a guy in Holland claim he hadn't received a phone I posted to him. Paypal reversed the payment and I was left without the phone or the cash. I never post abroad now. It's really hard to track and if you can't track, you can't prove it arrived.

Did you send it International signed for?
All my Ebay sales are send recorded delivery.
If I'm sending outside the UK, then they must pay the extra for this service. Does put them off
So if it does go pear shaped, you have some recourse. I sent some money this way, it never arrived, but I put a claim in and it was paid almost straight away

i have not been paid, so i have not let the amp go!
It was market as collection only, it is not a small amp, stands about 4ft from the floor, but he has told me that he will be collecting it through a Carrier, so i am thinking that if i sign to say that it has been picked up, i should be passing all responsibility to the Carrier?!?

I'd make sure he's paid insurance to cover any damage in transit, otherwise he's gonna stuff you and say it was damaged when it got to him.
This bloke sounds like a PITA and couldn't organise a **** up in a beer making place, otherwise he'd have paid straight away and sorted out the courier.

ok, so i sent him a msg saying that i would need to know by tonight what was going on, he sent me the following.....
Hi James!
I apologise for the delay, I'm a lorry driver and I was on the road.
my friend had problem with his credit card. the period of validity of the card was over. he was in the bank today morning, got a new card and sent the money through Paypal a few minutes ago.
please, send me your name, accurate address and mobil phone number and we can send to you the courier.
they will call you with a day before the arrival.
thanks,
Z.
I have said that i have worries around the method of collection incase damage in transit, therefore require him to take out full insurance, and for me to have full details first.
I should add as well he has 100% feedback from 80 transactions dating over the last 12 months.
What do you all think?

Feedback seems to give him some cred
You can book parcels to be collect by Parcelmonkey which do cover damage in transit. So if he's using something like this it should be alright?
If he's paid then the balls in your court now?
Cover yourself by taking photos of your item to prove it was damaged before you sent it

If it wasn't for the feedback score i would say it was a scam

I was thinking the same about the feedback, and being that he has said that he is paying for/organising and taking responcibility for the trransit i can only assume that there wont eb a problem. I will take very maticulous pictures of the amp prior to letting it get picked up, and i may write up a receipt come disclaimer for the driver who picks it up signes witht eh serial numbers on, description of any damage, etc and get him to sign it. just to cover myself, I am sure it will be fine, but i am getting really paranoid now!! :)
