Screams scam. Who in the UK would put "I am out of state". We don't have states! And we wouldn't say petroleum. Politely decline or you won't see your bike or money again.

Sounds like a scam.

tell him you want cash only on pickup

+1 and if he is genuine then he would have no problems with that.

Its exactly the same as what a scammer tried with my wife, although using Western Union as the preferred payment agent.

It wasn't a Nigerian, but someone from the Ukraine

Not quite sure how using PAYPAL, hes going to scam you, but there must be a way.

We had quite a lot of fun stringing our scammer along before finishing him off, see my thread

If using paypal they send you fake emails back saying that payment has been received. You then check your paypal which shows funds then theyy revesre it. Happened to a friend selling a Blackberry. He told them to kindly go f**k themselves.

Ah, and if you're stoopid, you don't check your PP balance. ;)

Juat a general tip. If you think that anything like this is a scam - the easiest way to check is to just copy the full text into Google and search. As special as we all like to think we are, almost definately other people will have been targetted.
See: http://tinyurl.com/3qodoyb

This obvioulsy doesn't protect against the individual scammers so always be careful of them too.

100% a scam and it's super easy to get scammed through Paypal, I run two online shops and have almost lost thousands thanks to crappy Paypal. They pay then have up to 3 months to claim a cashback Paypal do not argue this and pay the money straight back to them you then have to argue it out to try get your money back but you won't win even with tracking numbers etc. Credit card companies do 3 cashbacks a year so its easy and always worries me on future sales now that I may lose out. Bank transfer is the safest way it's closest thing to cash

Ooooh hee hee , I would have so much fun with this , I`d be all over that like a cheap suit . You have got to string them along . I wonder if you can get a bike crate from somewhere and say "Hey I can even get it crated for you ready for collection" . Obviously that crate is gonna be filled with as much scrap Iron and Bricks as you can get donated to you , even send him nice piccies of you "crating" your bike , nice angled shots that look like a bike being reversed into a big wooden box (obviously without you having to remove stuff) . Fill that sucker with junk and let them come and "collect" it . He is gonna jump through hoops if he thinks he is onto a winner and has a sucker on the go .

Does anyone remember the scam where they tried to buy an Apple Airbook or something like that ? , and they strung the guy along and even videoed him coming to collect it , that was a corker of a reverse stitch up job .
