Yup coz a Gixxer is actually just shy of 600cc it falls int the lower catagory whereas the SV falls in the (expensive) 600cc and over catagory!

My ZZR600 last year cost £58 for a year so was a shock when the SV was £72 for a year!

So it doesn't use any more fuel than the SV, and insurance is the same price?

No for some bizarre reason motorcycles are done on engine size as with old cars, where as modern cars are done on emmisions, motorcycles aren't, i think it is because the government would lose out on tax coz motorcycles are relativeley clean compared to a lot of cars.

My sister has a Seat Ibiza 1.6TDI and it only costs £30 a year u cant tell me that a big diesel engine is cleaner than my SV, hiow they can justify mote than 100% more for a vehicle which is cleaner and reduces congerstion and causes less damage to roads

I'm pretty sure bikes are incredibly dirty emissions wise, but i'd need someone like YC to come along to back this up. Don't even think bikes are emissions tested for MOT's like cars are.

I'm not sure either, i know when i worked at Honda Logistics we had a load of peds they were trying to get rid of coz they no longer met Euro emmisions laws

I realise this, I was just suggesting that Whitty has an amazing GSX-R600 but sounds like his other half needs more convincing :D

Bike tax is a royal rip off compared to eco cars, but then again it's not a huge amount of money on an annual basis.

Shame they dont use much of the tax we pay them to make our roads better. I've seen re-surfacing and patching going on round here and the road has been perfectly fine compared to a lot of other roads that actually need something doing to them.
To be honest though, we don't have prices too bad, I would rather pay that for tax and low insurance than 4 figure for insurance (I'm 20, insurance for cars at my age is awful), ridiculous tax and almost 3 figures to fill up with petrol. Plus I have more fun on a bike :D

It is a bit of a jump in tax duty. But the sv sounds nicer than the in line 4 .

downside is the sv650 is barely over the threshold, there should be more cc banding really, why should I pay the same tax as a harley sherman tank which must rip the road up far more than my dinky little bike

A hog rip the road up lol. They poodle about with there bolt on's. Not stressing the road even when they stop as there brakes ant that powerful :)

so true, followed one through colchester this avo, was doing my nut in as the rider, possibly a woman I think was going so slow, ok so it had rained earlier but the roads wernt too bad.

Sliced round it in traffic and and gave a lesson on why harleys are so cack!!!
