Hi

Just bought some NIKWAX Tech Wash and TX.Direct Wash-in to clean and re-proof gortex suit

Can I use the same for my gortex gloves , or do I need to buy some NIKWAX Glove Proofer ?

Cheers Steve

No idea, but be sure to use the TX direct spray after you have used the Inwash stuff. Spray on damp textiles to lock in the product, then hang to dry somewhere warm.

ps don't be disappointed if your textiles don't come out gleaming, they tend not to release all the ground in muck!

The very first thing that should be done is empty your washing machine and give it a run on a quick wash to remove all detergents . Washing powder will absolutely bollox things like Gore-Tex . I usually stick a capfull of Tech Wash in and wash on a quick wash at the coldest setting , usually that economy jobby . I have washed a Karrimor MTB jacket like this for about 7 years now . It`s still waterproof , and after going out on the MTB it stinks , usually covered in 3 different types of Horse poo (I like to ride through it and splatter anyone following me :) ) , a 2" thick layer of mud , snot , tears (if things go wrong or I end up laughing at somebody) and then my own man-stink after an epic ride .

As far as gloves go , they can be abit of a pain as they take ages to dry out . I would not be tempted to turn them inside out as some gloves are stitched in a way that the lining can pull out and can be a right ar5e to get back in if you don`t know a quick way to do it . Let it all dry naturally ... a bathroom can be handy for that and sling them on something over the bath ....... and remember , waterproof jackets have pockets , and they bloody fill with water and slop about when you take them out of the washing machine and dump wet water all over your feet :)

what badger said, pop your washing maching on a whites boil wash before doing anything. (remember to turn it back else youll stuff your stuff) with no powder.

its important to get the garment clean before using tx direct. otherwise you will just be sealing in the muc. On my ski stuff i like to wash it a minumum of 2 times in tech wash then tx direct.
