ImplodedHamster

Shame you couldn't come Wideboy/SV mad and idle biker! I met up with ImplodedHamster and we had a good chat for an hour maybe. Trying to work out if we knew the guys on there Naked SV's. The rain has only just started. Was quite busy, blue skys (no sun) but did look like rain was coming and such it did.

Anyway thanks for coming ImplodedHamster hope you got home safe.

Ben

ImplodedHamster
06-07-11, 09:11 PM
got home fine :)

idle bike, did you leave via the petrol station with a red daytona?? we found a blue 07, but couldn't find you :-P
and it didn't rain till around 8:30 at which point we legged it :D

The Idle Biker
06-07-11, 09:19 PM
Yes that sounds like us. He had a row with his missus and turned up late then proceeded to bang on about it so I decided the best thing to do was to get him back on his bike. That and the fact the 3 police bikers in the car park started to dismount and I was worried they'd start checking bikes. Realised my tax had lapsed this evening, so I thought it best to get off quick.

Sorry I missed you. Next week maybe.

Ben Whitcher
06-07-11, 09:42 PM
Thought it was you. We had a look around but no one approached us :( Next time we know now which one is you!

Ben

ImplodedHamster
06-07-11, 10:45 PM
the police just sat there... do they do that alot?

Wideboy
07-07-11, 07:54 AM
Yeah so they can "show their presence".... what ever that achieves asides from waste money and man power

They used to stick a scamera van in the layby opposite loomies to get people coming down the hill but the cut backs are obviously taking its toll

Ben Whitcher
03-08-11, 04:59 PM
Loomies tonight anyone ?

SV Mad
03-08-11, 05:33 PM
Loomies tonight anyone ?

Will probably do a drive past and stop if there's room. If it's anything like it was early July when you couldn't move, I'll probably do a bit of the 272 and go home.

Ben Whitcher

As I understand it, the accident is still being investigated, the driver was arrested BUT that is usual in a situation where a death has occured, if there were no independent witnesses then things will be reliant on forensics.

SV Mad
23-09-11, 02:46 PM
The weather forecast is good and although there is a serious point it will probably be a bit of fun. I will probably get there (M27 eastbound, Rownham Services) about 12.30 and have a coffee before the off.

http://www.mag-uk.org/en/campaignsdetail/a6883

I've copied the MAG guidance from another thread:

ADVICE TO RIDERS PROTESTING ON 25th SEPTEMBER

What are we doing?
A synchronised rolling protest by thousands of riders on major routes throughout the UK.Starting from selected service areas on motorways and other major routes at precisely 1 pm.Making our presence felt by riding at a pleasantly sedate 45-48 mph for 15 miles or so beforedispersing. This is a legitimate, peaceful protest, not a blockade, the outer lane will be left clear for other traffic, ride responsibly and take care of other road users. We will not block the width of the highway, because that is obstruction and anyway it'll have far more impact in the minds of motorists as they all get to slowly pass and see the spectacle, rather than just the first 4 cars back seeing that there are bikes in front. MAG does not advocate breaking laws.

Please ride responsibly and safely at all times. We will garner respect if we appear co-ordinatedand responsible. This is part of our campaigning armoury. One tool in the box...Riders are participating at their own risk. Everyone says bikes are 'dangerous' and should belegislated off the road; lets show them we are legitimate road users too. This guidance may be updated and is not exhaustive, please check for updates.

Why are we doing this?
Motorcycle Action Group and other organisations have been working with politicians and civilservants to stem the growing interference in all aspects of biking. Now is the time to demonstrate that we are serious about defending what we enjoy and rolling-back the tide of past legislation that creates burdens on biking without providing noticeable benefits. Motorcycling is slowly being strangled by anti-bike policies - current proposals from Europe threaten to further limit what we will be allowed to ride in future, reduce access to motorcycling by new riders and further restrict motorcyclists' freedom of choice and movement, etc. This is an appropriate and measured protest against unnecessary interference in our lives. By taking synchronised action on major routes in all parts of the country we can make a big impact without causing the inconvenience that a traditional street protest in a city centre results in -doing this at a quiet time of the week shows we can be proportionate in our response and capable of making a bigger impact should we need to in future. These protests are intended to be simple and safe to take part in, nevertheless some police forces have come forward to offer assistance. The Motorcycle Action Group is liaising with Police Forces but organisers of individual protests should consider informing their local police traffic division that the event is happening. There should be no need to change to the chosen start time, location or purpose – these are legitimate protests.

See you there.
