I'm going away tomorrow for a week and normally take my PSP for games and movies.
Does anyone know a bit of free software I can download that I can convert my own DVDs into movies to play on my PSP ?
I used to have one that was on a utility cd that came with it but god knows where that's gone.
Cheers

Specialone,
I use a product called Handbrake.

It only seems to work on copied DVD's though, and takes virtually as long as the film to convert. You can copy to Ipod Iphone/Touch and PSP formats. A converted film ends up at about 400 Mb if you don't go for higher resolution. I have a number of films in this format and would be happy to send you them if you wish?

Thanks for the offer but I go tomorrow :)
I was hoping to convert my original DVDs as it's not illegal I believe.
It's illegal to circumvent copy protection, but I guess if the disc doesn't have it then it should be ok. I used handbrake before, a little slow but free. Depending on the encoding settings it can take 30 mins (crap quality) to around 2hrs as stated (high quality) Have you not got any UMD's?

Nope, ive got one of the original 1001's so i can play everything inc games from memory cards.
Yeah, I know the one. Got one of the fat ones myself. Haven't converted movies in ages. Got Predator, Fifth Element and Starship Troopers on UMD.
