August Bank Holiday Weekend, 26-29 August, Camping and Rideout Weekend
Following on from a successful return last year we are planning to do it AGAIN :D This time it's for the hattrick!
Same plan as before (if it ain't broke)... Here are the details:
CAMPSITE (http://www.porlockcaravanpark.co.uk/) - 01643 862269 - Everyone books for themselves. Tell them you're part of the group that's visited the past couple of years and you won't have a problem. Cost is apx £42 for 2 people and a bike for 3 nights camping.
There are local B&B facilities for those that 'don't camp'...
Last Years ROUTE is below (issues with Link and edits see post #8 ) - It's an absolute cracker. The intention is to run this on Saturday (maybe in reverse for those that were there last year) and then take a smaller ride on Sunday (TBD).

No idea where I'm going to be around that time of year, no idea where I'm going to be in a fortnight for that matter but hey, life's an adventure...
With that in mind I can't put my name down as a certainty but if I can I'll be there, don't hold your breath though...:D

Should be able to do this I'm not sure about the AR as its a fair distance and I'd not have been paid at all until the end of August even if I get this job at the Petrol station ¬.¬ Uni was worth it in my case

Well didn't get the job, fell off the bike, broke thumb buuuuuuut fingers crossed I can get to this still should be healed and such

What happens with regards to food etc when there? Is it a proper camping trip or a tent and pub job?
Tent and pub job, but we typically have a BBQ on the Saturday evening before the pub.

Im sure Phil24_7 said we would be bringing the BBQ again. There is a co-op close by so perhaps as per previous years, everyone who wants bbq, chip in a £5 and someone can do a shop run for bbq food and beer. I am happy to do that but will need a vehicle to drive or someone to drive me as I don't trust myself driving our van! I can only do straight lines!

Yer I kind of doubt very much so I'll be at this now, not particularly been up on my luck lately.
Essentially my appedix, EXPLODED on the 2nd and was in hospital untilo yesterday (9th) bare in mind my Birthdays the 8th so Celebrations for that were well non existant, what a way to spend your 23rd ay. Either way its allo rather painful, I'm still without bike too and thumb at present. Just I think no one wants me to ride this summer so'll be seeing you next year at this if it happens again and the AR12 this years one you were all in Yorkshire and I was in Hospital ... Wo :|
i hope i get back in time for this, hopeing very much, dont want to miss out on it again, missed out on 2 ars and porlock last year. bladdy RAF ey lol. hopefully see everyone there if not have fun and have a drink for me :)
I think i will try and get to this.
Get back form a week training on the hills friday afternoon, so might be a bit achy and tired lol.

booked :) on a serious note, packing: tent, clothes, wallet, bike, sleeping bag, me, anything else?
what's happening on the food front? no need to bring any at all?
Sort food out on the way down... when you get there there's pub, fish & chips, one stop etc.
Things to think about: Torch, pillow case (stuff it with cloths for a pillow), earplugs, waterproofs (spare gloves if you have room), ground mat... most other things can be bought there... beer for example.

Lady said there's a bit of space so if folk just turn up they should be ok. Be aware they usually charge a minimum 3 ngt stay on bank holidays.

I take it Rich, that if you take the car there will be no rideout?
My plan is to take the rideout directions (inc copies) so that folk can do the rideout. The directions are based on road signs and inc a map, so they aren't too difficult. A leader is the only problem... but a few there have done the route before.
If we go in the car (which will only happen if it's really p'ing down) and the weather turns out great I'll be gutted...

Sunday morning was crap, but was really nice in the afternoon.
Tbh mate, a train would have been almost preferable to having to deal with the muppets on the M5 today
Back about an hour and a half ago. Easy run back with only a little bit of traffic to deal with.
Good weekend, despite the weather and the off and it was good to see/meet you all.
New leathers were fine on the way home - but I have to ease up on the pies. :D
Thanks to Phil and Kate for the stirling BBQ work and rain refuge.
Looking forward to seeing the pic's.
