My other half came home from work today with something so amazing, so spellbinding its going to totally revolutionise our lives. Yes thats right......its an AUTOMATIC BIN :smt031 no longer will I have to go through the ball aching chore of having to stand on the pedal at the bottom. So I say thankyou autobin inventors, I salute you :salut:

Ok but seriously 2 things:

1. Die you sneeky, autobin inventing barstards for making my girlfriend spend £75 on a fecking bin :smt071
2. Why can't I stop playing with it \\:D/ guaranteed i'll have broken it by the weekend lol

Anyone got any other utterly useless inventions lying around the house? We've got a battery powered fork for eating pasta with somewhere, a gift off somebody....still in the wrapper

I mean, seriously... what's the point of them?

TBH, we have to use those things in our lab (chemistry student) and the things are the bane of our lives, more often than not they dont open when you want them to, and you end up having to prise open the buggers, whilst wishing they had just left the pedal on there. Rant Over, as you can tell i also dont think much of them. Along the same lines as your pasta thing, one of my flatmates had an electric salt and pepper grinder, what is wrong with having to just grind it yourself

Don't blame the inventor. I hope you slapped the girlfriend round the head with a wet salmon! ;)

Haha I haven't got any of them yet. I was a little unsure of the returns policy if you weren't happy with them

All the fish are in the freezer, I thought that might be a tad extreme :D

Sadly after going to the grand designs show we were taken in by these too. I'd been looking for a decent kitchen bin for ages and it seemed better than the brabantia ones as it did cool stuff. Must admit though in hindsight it is swish and very handy when you have both hands full of stuff. We got the recycling one with two compartments, tidied our kitchen up no end.

but yep, I have to agree, I still feel stupid confessing I have a motorised bin :safe:

Automatic Bin?
Is it voice operated or something, how does it know you want to open it.
and I thought the point of a pedal bin was so when you've 2 hands of rubbish you can just stand on it and open it - look mum no hands.

The pointy SV. I mean, its was just perfect with curves, oh that and the Detol No Touch soap dispenser thing. I mean, you HAVE dirty hands and you are going to wash them to make them clean, so does it really matter that you are going to touch a germy hand pump, NO! Stop with the crazy marketing

Yup, ours is one of those high tech ones that you push the lid down and it swings open, cost less than a tenner and seems to work

Also, 'veggie' burgers/sausages/meat-styled products. As a letter to Viz said, "as a carnivore you don't find me making carrots or sprouts out of beef."

No, he may be a homeless Canuk but he's right - veggie food is fine but veggie food pretending to be meat is just perverse. My youngest is allergic to red meat, and even he won't go near a veggie burger. He just thinks they are wrong.
