My god yes. I've only watched it twice and I was fed up with them saying it.
There was also something else they kept saying but I can't remember what it was now!

Was it explaining Shellgrip? That also gets me!.
Youd think they might do some preparation and think of somethin else to say.

Motorcycle 205mph, Sikorski X2 299mph. Thyve got the wrong 'copters.

Most choppers max out at about 180mph depending on weather. Those tt bikes are hitting 200mph

The world record according Wikiwahwah is 249.1mph in a modified Lynx.

Stenno

Is that air speed or land speed?

metalangel

Airspeed. Unfortunately the FAI's record site for rotorcraft is offline so there's no further details.

I know an org helicopter pilot, I also have a rather fast bike at the bottom of the garden.
Once upon a time, he was given the keys to it and took it on a bimble. Aparently on his return he handed back the keys drips white, and shaking, proclaiming it was faster than his heliflopter. Somehow he'd got it to the rev limiter, the owner hasn't got it that far up the rev range cause its stupid fast without doing so.

Correct me if i am wrong but a Lynx is a piece of Military hardware not the same as the Helicopter by Bell etc used by news companys and TV crews?

It does seem to be a recurring theme.

A bit like Martin Brundle a few years ago and "The Ragged Edge".

Don't mention Brundle - him and Coultard doing the VETTel / veTTEL rap every GP gets a bit wearing!

I bet none of those bikes could outrun Airwolf though.

Is it Guy Martin not blinking? They seem to have said it a few times when it's been the camera looking up at him on the bike

The Lynx is a military helicopter, the most popular chopper for news crews is the Bell JetRanger which bears a slight resemblance.

Airwolf does 350 mph.

Stenno, I don't know if I'm impressed or disturbed that you know that. Mind you, that's without the turbo thrusters which took it up to "Mach 1+". Just found a rather sad end to the real helicopter on wiki

The flying Airwolf helicopter was actually a Bell 222, serial number 47085, sometimes unofficially called a Bell 222A. During filming of the series, the helicopter was owned by Jetcopters, Inc. of Van Nuys, California. The helicopter was eventually sold after the show ended and became an ambulance helicopter in Germany, where it crashed in a thunderstorm and was destroyed on June 6, 1992, killing all three crew members

OK, pop quiz, how fast was Blue Thunder?!

Exactly what I was thinking, if they are higher they don't need to cover the same distance as fast surely, they can cut corners, don't have to slow for tighter corners etc.
