Okay girls and boys, after speaking with Old Git at the weekend, we are thinking of a camping weekend/ ride in Taunton.
It's to be known as CAMMP weekend as in title :)
Thinking of weekend at end of July, I know it's close to the AR but I'm not sure how many madlanders are going to that anyway, I'm not tbh.
It's going to be a cheapo, get there late afternoon/ early evening Friday, ride out Saturday, come home sunday .
Anybody interested ?
Come on you know you want to !!
Phil
I'll be tempted, will have to figure out how to carry luggage on the blade before then though :p

I'd better start growing my handlebar moustache now
You can wear your YMCA builders gear
And G can look like normal
I'd better start growing some hair or people will start calling me dildo head
:safe:
And G can looks like sexy beast anyway
Thanks mate

Hmmmm, could be interested.....you thinking of any particular weekend?
I forget that I'm away most of June/july living somewhere in the middle of the north sea... There's a weekend or two I'm free though so get a multi option poll up and we can see who is free when and then pick a weekend rusty-buthole is busy.

I'm camping with the family in devon from 22nd to 29th so could possibly come on 29th on way back home in the car, so camping but no ride out
5th june is quite do-able, 15th is maybe but probable not.

Well I thought if I don't get things moving it won't happen :)
I'm off to France 1st September so I haven't got an enormous amount of weekends available.
Btw, that's a very generous offer from mr widepants and depending on numbers that would be brilliant if his garden would accommodate us.

Old Git

I'v voted for 2 dates cos I can
I'm OK for 15th or 22nd - BUT REMEMBER many schools break for summer hols last day on 22nd and if we need a camp site (rather than a garden) may be heavily booked with all the lickle families going sarf for the summer.
Phil, better set a date for a close-off for who is coming so we have numbers and can see how many tents we can cram into widepants garden, otherwise we will need to look at booking/reserving a site becasue
Should we say deffinate numbers by end of next week, i.e by 24th June??
Think 15th should look favourite for the points noted above.:smt116

Yeah good point OG, forgot all the rugrats broke up then, im sure there would be a crappy campsite somewhere that would have space though lol
Make a decision by the weekend then folks please \\:D/
You know the link of the campsite you posted to me in PM, shall we try that if the back garden at widepants' isnt available / suitable?

Ok dudes, these are a couple of campsites myself and OG have looked into
Ashe farm (http://www.ashefarm.co.uk/contact.asp)
Ive also just rang and spoke to the owner of Sparkhayes Farm (http://www.porlock.co.uk/members/index.php?id=00075), top bloke, he said bikes no problem (actual words were 'more than welcome'), two fields, £7 a night, leave whatever time we like on the sunday etc.
Beach is 20 mins walk from here and 3 pubs within a 5 min walk into the village.
Let me know your thoughts lads please :)

Says £7.50/night each, seems good.
This one slightly on the east of the M5, you pays your money & takes your pic, but it do have its own 'Bar':smt031

Well folks, let's be honest, the 15th of July is gonna win, doesn't seem to be any late comers to change the result.
So, can we have some firm names then ?
I know it's 4 weeks away but we can get something booked then and advise the site on numbers.
So add your name to list if you can committ.

Anyhoo I'm up for it regardless I've bought insurance and I've bought a tent and I damnwell want to use them this year.
Getting fridays (/days) off work is a bit tricky so I might have to be a saturday-sundayer, if that's okay?

Won't take 4 hours mate, if I get a shifty on I can do Weston in about 1hr 20mins.

Chances are I'll be able to get the day off, if not I'll atleast be able to swap things around and get the afternoon free so yeah sounds like a plan.
Google reckoned almost 4hours to one of those campsites from sheffield! Although I can get down to brum in less than an hour and a half so sounds more like 3hours then I'd guess.

OK Ladies, this is a rough route I was thinking of, not built any stops in for food, drink, fags, pictures, bad backs, bag emptying or anything else at this stage.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=taunton&daddr=bampton+to:dulverton+to:minehead+to:lynmouth +to:newtown+to:bampton&hl=en&sll=50.989557,-3.562317&sspn=0.202709,0.614548&geocode=Ff1rCgMdKqXQ_yl_kLcfkoptSDH76d5ONA7rdQ%3BF fgNCgMd7M3K_yndRQU1U8BtSDEglOyiLa4OBQ%3BFWLOCgMdWN HJ_ylX7mvoJMRtSDGwvJQ_QfQQBQ%3BFelVDQMdMurK_ykNzvq E5d1tSDFwvZQ_QfQQBQ%3BFSerDQMdnMfF_ymbyLuvQtRtSDE-F3yWtnMuAQ%3BFf5pCgMdz5_G_ynl7qfavcttSDF5cpcEACZ08 A%3BFfgNCgMd7M3K_yndRQU1U8BtSDEglOyiLa4OBQ&mra=ls&z=10
Roads as I remember are good, pending traffic at a weekend, so progress should be good.
Do we want it a bit longer? perhaps another 40-50 miles? and this is also starting from our original concept of staying near Taunton, depending which cammp we are at, this may have an effect on the start/finish but you get the idea.
Phil, assuming you are looking at Porlock for the camping, will post an alternative route shortly.

Those wicker baskets look just the ticket, can carry everything you need including a spare set of false teeth, some hankies etc.etc.

yes we go from the cammp west to Lynmouth, then from there head south to start the loop, see the 2nd link on earlier posts, but this will be early in the trip, I guess Porlock to Lynmouth will only be about 30-40 miles.

I have that Friday off work if I feel like joining you but can I just check a couple of things before I commit to anything:
1) Will this be like a Supervox Essex rideout : we lose at least 3 people, someone gets a puncture, someone else ends up in a ditch and 'seaside' means Southend on Sea which is chav central with polluted water and lots of fat women in crop tops?
2) If we are going to the seaside will you all be in tight Speedos - just so I know to bring my camera?
3) As the only female, am I expected to bake the scones for the picnic?

1./ NO
2./ Under leathers, Yes
3./ No - a mans picnic usually consists of lots of meat & gentlemens relish, no scones required (although bring some incase we have some interlopers!)
Look forward to seeing you :smt001

This is a cafe opposite where we could park on the pavement, or find a chippy :), looks plenty of places to grab food if we do decide to go there.
My google maps is being snail slow atm so cant extend your original map, btw i dont wanna lead so another satnav may be needed.

Think i can make this, although i can't see the proposed route or campsite as I'm having to use my phone for Internet.
Def 15th July?
And we have to ring up to book at the campsite?
