Hi all - you may or may not remember that i said i had the bike and no kit and no licence when i introduced myself... so whats been happening since

got all my kit now, or the essentials at least, boots, gloves, trousers, jacket, lid

did my theory and hazard perception a few weeks back and passed with no problems

passed mod1 tuesday this week... i was very nervous about this, it turned out that i was the only student to pass their mod1 test for the whole afternoon, and bearing in mind the test centre were carrying out rolling 10min tests with no breaks between stundents, that must have been a lot of failures. I was very pleased with myself as you can imagine.

so mod2 is booked for july 6th but am hoping to get in on a short notice cancellation before that date.... Im nearly there now \\:D/

Its as good as passed then pal, Mod1's what seems to catch most people out Mod2 is the doddle.

You'll be out there in no time, congrats.

it is easy yes, but keeping your head together and remembering the life savers etc is where a lot of people were slipping up - observations and feet down on the slow ride were the most common that i saw whilst i waited for my go... oh and emergency stops... 2 chaps i watched failed on this, 1 guy slowed to a halt over 30metres with all the urgency of a sloath and the other locked up the front, but managed to release the front brake milliseconds before the bars turned... he was visibly shaken that he came so close to an off that he stopped the test there and then, he knew hed failed and had had enough.

The swerve test seemed to be fine for most.

I was fine on everything but was asked to redo the emergency stop on account of being too slow through the speed trap - i was at 30mph instead of the required 31.6 i believe, but you are allowed 2 gos at the measured tests i.e. emergency stop and hazard avoidance/swerve

The person before me on MOD1 didn't do a single life saver yet somehow he still passed?! Girl after me locked up on her emergency stop and failed.

The swerve test is hugely over hyped by a load of people who've never done it. All the complaints about it are stupid really as it isn't dangerous. Sure there may have been a few accidents but there is on all parts of the test no doubt, just those ones got highlighted.

I had to redo my emergency stop (I think it was that) for being too slow as well. The onllly time I'd ever gone below the minimum speed was on the test itself! :safe:

yeah ive heard that the swerve test has been cause for debate, but ive not taken much notice on this as i had to do it regardless of whether it was good or bad..

I suspect that the emergency stop causes more accidents than the swerve to be honest, just cos people get nervous and then snatch at the lever when they get the signal... particularly in the wet

Reading this made me think back and it was only like 5 months ago for me either way it was the figure of eight that really did me, I did a Ninja kick/flick with my left leg and kept her up and my trainer who was watching chuckled. If I'd been a smaller lad it'd have gone down, I do not miss that Old ER-5 at all as well Yellow Protective Clothing on a Blue Bike, and a High Viz ... I looked a right Mug, though one of the riding schools near me has a High Viz Orange painted Kawazaki something

Nice one YMB - yeah i did mine on a maroon coloured ER5, but fortunately had bought my kit after looking a right bell end on my cbt wearing the riding school kit - bearing in mind that im 6'2" 18st with a 50" chest, absolutely everything they had looked ridiculous... the only thing i had to wear of theirs this time was the hi-viz vest, which rode up and looked like a bikini top...

i wish i had pics of me doing my CBT in kit way too small, knees up around my ears, riding a knackered out cg125.... my god i bet i brightened a few peoples day

Its just because I'm a f**king ninja :batman: I know thats Batman but it has the same kind of point behind it. I get what you mean I'm 6'3 easily with any Kit on and I'm a 46/44/48" chest and look like a Sail on the CBT Suzuki something 125 which they laughed at me as I was able to get 60 out of it :p

Never had to wear their kit though thankfully only had to use their bikes and those ear pieces ... HAAAAAATE I used to take them off and my ear would be burning red raw not sure if you got nice ear pieces or not. If so ... I hate you too :p

i know, i know, trying to grip the bike with your shins/calve cos you've got no hope using your knees...

as for the comms ear piece, nope i complained about it being agony on CBT, i complained about it being agony on my Mod 1, and still have 2 days of Mod 2 to wear the feckless thing too... thing is, its made worse cos my helmet is brand new and super snug.. which means that the ear piece hurts like hell the minute i try to get my lid on... ahh well

Same here. I did my training with Kickstart at Kensham and their earpieces hurt like hell. I'm glad I passed first time as I couldn't bare to have to wear the damn thing any more.

Trololololol I did struggle with mine last weekend as it was packed up with download so I have to step over the bike rather than swing my leg over the back like getting on a horse. I think I can put both flat but I can't remember haven't tried to busy enjoying riding her, I've really long leg though. Maybe we should get you some Platforms?

And Dude the first ride with no earpiece in is ****ing so comfortable I did like 250 miles on my bike the first ride just listening to her. Now I have a inner earphone in my left ear because for some reason its uncomfortable in the right and I'd never ride with both in, think thats just too dangerous!
