I was about to go and get the lighthouse (while grabbing fish and chips) then saw Darren had got it! So I had to go and get his new tag :p
:smt019 to you and your lame lighthouse Darren!
This was my effort

Did I see you leaving?
Here's mine

Is there a record for the most number of tags in a day?
If my bike wasn't broken I'd be straight up to KFC!

I'm not getting that one lol. Did they try to take your order?
Indeed they did  I thought I'd end up stuck in the queue on the way out but there was just enough room to filter through
The latest photo comp has made me ask a question that I have been wondering for ages myself.
Can you do a drive though on a bike?
Thoughts / Experiences?

Not that I'd want to carry drinks/fast food on a bike, but there's nothing stopping you from doing it. You could put the stuff in a tank bag easily enough but if you get a drink then the lids are often so flimsy I expect you'll get a bit of spillage, and the smell of the food in the bag afterwards - no thanks.
Now a pizza bungeed to the pillion seat... that works well :p
I've seen people be refused service when they've been walking through when the main restaurant was closed. When I took that pic they were asking 'Can I help you' rather than 'Can I take your order'.
Besides which I don't appear to have a cup holder on my bike
Why don't you find out - & get a pic at the same time :)
I wouldn't want to either, although I'd quite like to see someone else attempt it :)
Yes, drinks seems to be a non starter unless someone has created some sort of drinks holder contraption.
Low and behold!

I have been through a KFC drive thru with TON.
We ordered, rode around and put the "chicken" meal in a back-pack before riding back to his house

Saw a bloke going through our local McD's on his bike the other night, helmet balanced on top of his head, no other kit - did wonder where he was going to put the food.

And posting this here to save cluttering up the main thread with the photos in...
Sorry... !
-photos-
has been done... try again!
Eh? At the current time nowhere in the first post (which contains the rules) does it say you can't repeat.
Unless you make this clear and maintain a list of all previous challenges then it's silly trying to enforce this non-existent rule by saying you can't have a similar challenge as has previously been had, I highly doubt anybody will look through the whole thread to see if their prospective photo has been done in the past!
if I remember correctly wasnt the first one a big log pile ie unprepared timber?
this one is more timber yard/prepared timber, so in my mind it's a different challenge.
BanannaMan

There's a timberyard not far from my house.
Should have looked at this before I left home.
I'm 280+ miles away now.

It can be any of the services not just fire. afaik.
Littlepeahead
12-06-12, 07:17 AM
It's not the only one, Essex have a Ducati too!
But as said above, I was out with Paul the fireman, but any of the emergency services will do. You don't have to drape yourself across a police bike wearing a skimpy vest, although that's what Bernard Biker Chick did last year in Soho!

Well that turned my morning commute into a bit of a mission, brightened the day up even before I got to work. The sign was on my route but the castle was a bit of a detour so only did that after I took the sign one confirming it did say car boot on it.
Anyone else feel sneaky riding up to somewhere and parking the bike to get a tag? :)
Anyone had weird looks yet? I must have had from passing motorists but so far never pedestrians.

I have put another one up as we've already had castle at least once, in fact I think it's been done twice. I thought it had to be a new thing each time to keep it fresh? If everyone disagrees though I can take my one down. Maybe we should compile a text list in a separate thread so we can all see what has gone before to save repeating ourselves. I know it's tedious scrolling through pages of photos.
When I stopped to take the bootsale photo half an hour ago there was a massive gravel spillage on the major juntion roundabout so I'm just about to report it to the police. Had I not been slowing down too park on the path I'd have been in trouble.

Pretty sure there has also been a discussion about repeat photos and the verdict last time was Winner picks next thread and duplicates are fine. Obviously uniques are better but last thing we need is people having to trawl through dozens of pages to see if their idea has been covered before.
DarrenSV650S
26-07-12, 03:45 PM
Brettus got that tag. Doesn't matter that we have had castle before.
The whole point is it gets people riding. Its not supposed to be serious.
All now sorted. However perhaps a couple of posters need to be reminded pictures in the picture thread and chat in the chat thread!
I'm sure a friendly mod will be along shortly with his/her magic tippex or what ever it is they use to remove stuff.

Littlepeahead
26-07-12, 05:49 PM
How come you two have got such different weather - aren't you only about 50 miles apart?
Sunny here too today, and I drove past a castle today - we do have them in Essex you know. In the oldest recorded town of Colchester.
christopher
26-07-12, 05:51 PM
It's chucking it down now and rather windy. And get you with the history lesson :p
Littlepeahead
26-07-12, 06:00 PM
I followed the path of the oldest Roman Road. Now known as the mind numbingly dull A12, those roman soldiers probably died of boredom getting to Colchester from Londinium.
Anyway Christopher, how's the tash growing going so you can win a round?
andrewsmith
26-07-12, 06:53 PM
Would putting a challenge tag on the IoM be too cruel?
Littlepeahead
26-07-12, 07:05 PM
Nah, we'd just get Manxmatt to put up a pic of his bike and then the photo he's got of me next to his bike putting up my tent. Then you'd struggle as I hardly ever go camping so it may take years to get 'LPH erecting tent near my bike'.
christopher
26-07-12, 07:06 PM
Andy if you do that then next time I get the tag I'll do what I mentioned to a few people last year, "Your bike on the Nürburgring.". Game on!
And Clare, as much as I know how you'd like to see me with an 80s style porn moustache it'd take me years to get enough hair on my face to get anywhere near one!

So just to check, the rules are:
New tag posted, you have to go out and take a NEW photo of you to match that tag. So you can't for example use an old photo of your bike parked alongside a castle, or your mate back in Movember with a big tash? You have to go out now and find someone with fancy facial hair?
But if you manage that then your next challenge can be an old photo?
I thinks the game has gone on so long some didn't realise this.

Yep Chris, as you pointed out that photo of me was from only a day or two earlier but strictky speaking should have been taken on the day I posted, so I fell foul of that by about 48 hours. If I'd have realised I could have set my tripod up. The one of me on the back of the bike was taken today, as was the car boot sale sign as it's near home and I met the guy with the tash yesterday at a cricket match. My alternative picture yesterday was a guy who is 6'10" tall who I had lunch with but I thought that might be a bit unfair on everyone.
