Hi

I sold my ipod dock on ebay, to a winning bidder who sniped 15 seconds from the end. 48 hours have elapsed now and no contact, I emailed twice and no reply.

Would I be justified in going to the next highest bidder?

48 hours ain't long (unless you stipulated a response in that time?), I'd give it a week before doing owt else.

Could be working/holiday owt really.

Hold out for s bit longer. They might be using a bid snipper app, which automatically bids a few seconds before the end. They might not be near a pc for a few days.

I need it gone (moving out!) so ordinarily wouldn't be concerned. However he must be online in order to place the bid, 15 seconds before, so why not wait 15 more to pay/ contact me?

He/she didn't have to be anywhere near a compoota if he/she was using a sniper thingywotsit to bid at the last few seconds...however dot com it's your ipod, do what you want. Has he/she paid though?

There was a previous thread about this, similar problem. Bidder was a truck driver who'd got a mate to bid on his behalf, so idn't get home until the weekend, so pays to be paitent I'm afraid.

I've done this in the past, because I've been away from home and no access to PC.

Whats your bidders feedback profile like? Good, then I'd wait. Poor or negative feedback, then use the 2nd chance offer system.

I've had non paying bidders before, its a PITA, but I've benefitted from 2nd chance offers

So what is a sniper app? I can guess but where do you get them?

Bad show what, what what, doncha know, it takes all the fun out of it.

Something like this

There's plenty of them

You can also bid. On your phone. But less secure I'd you pay using it maybe that's the thing.

Agreed, but when an auction finishes at 02:00 I'm not going to stay up all night just to click the bid now button :p

Plus its helpful if you forget to bid on an item you really want.

But does **** me off when I get outbid in the last 5 seconds

Yeah, I don't like cheats, but I'm weak enough morally to use it if there's something I really want. Like a track bike!

id offer to the 2nd highest bidder, in this day and age there is not much excuse for no communication, all phones have Ebay app's and Email etc
