Junk or Art?
Either way it's now hanging in the lobby at work.

The blue light is provided by a strand of blue LED lights from a Christmas tree.
The indicator light is lit (full time) by means of a 12 volt adapter and an LED tail light bulb thus the reddish orange tint.
The yellow SV fairing sticker I just happened to have and covers some scratches well. Plus easier to read when viewed hanging on the wall.

My employees love it.
My wife says toss it in the bin.
Just wanted some biker opinions on it, good or bad.
Your thoughts?

Is it junk, is it art? It does fulfill one of the main features of most modern art actually. I look at it and I think, "Why?"

I love the curves and the lighting adds a bit of life to it.. cant help thinking its the modern moose's head.
Makes me smile and wish I still had my curvy :)

I would consider it art. Not because I'm a fan, but because the true definition of art is that the piece can have to other purpose then to be displayed as such. Half a fairing seems useless enough as a bike part, and more usefull as art.

Actually, I'm taking a likeing to it. Someone needs to find a way to mount the engine to a wall....I love the look of the V-twin.

I don't think it would fetch much at Christie's but if you like it & it's your wall, that's all the matters.

The idea?
Just popped into my head.
Picked up the fairing half and decided to hang it on the wall. Could put the mirror on , and hmmm.. I have an indicator, maybe light it up.
and there it was.

The blue LED's were originally intended to create a blue, neon like glow around the fairing but LED lights produce too narrow of a beam of light for that.
They really do look much better live than in the pic.
The really bright hot spots of light are not seen live. They all look like the circular patterns.
And I can turn off either LEDs's or the indicator independantly of each other but leaving both on for now.

Probably the coolest part is, made entirely of junk, er, I mean art supplies I already had on hand.
