was a lovely night so i decided to visit my brothers in edin. after the visit, got on the bike moved it out from where i keep it put foot down on a bad camber and over it went. i never even bothered trying to save it as i don't fancy a hernia or other injury after all its only a bike which can be fixed ;)

so what the damage... ermm well nothing to speak of, broken front indicator (surprise surprise), a few little scratches on the faring lower and one on the upper and a scuffed mirror, that's it so i guess i'm a luck bugger :D

that's what i get for having short legs and being a dwarf

You wouldn't catch me doing that. Oh no. :-dd

The important bit though. Did anyone see you?

Bugger! Those stands do seem to have an uncanny ability to disappear silently as soon as you avert your gaze. There is probably some sort of 'opposite of a watched kettle boiling' analogy to be made. At least the damage was minor.

4 months into owning a shiny new-ish bike and I've already danced the 'SV tango' a couple of times. With my old bike the stand was skanky enough with accumulated grot that it needed a good boot to get it to move at all - much more reassuring!

At least you didn't go the 'full dwarf' and get trapped under the bike!:smt100

ooohhh yes it was the centre of edinburgh (buccleuch street) and it was hot, sunny and loads of people going about their business. strange thing it was a lovely nice female who asked if i need help. but my bro just looked out the window pointed and laughed, yes he is a current

I think I still have this somewhere after I thought I could off-road a road bike, inconspicuous and drilled for lightness like an ol' Blade.

Sorry to hear that Lance!

Least your not hurt and bikes relatively cheap to sort.

I've still to break my duck when it comes to bike dropping :-)

Nice one Lance. 8)

I poke fun, but I've had Suzy fall on me, on more than one occasion. The last time she twisted my knee right around to near dislocation, whilst pinning me against my neighbours back door. Trying to shout for assistance whilst an invalid with a recent hip job is sat on the bog.....is a tad embarrassing!

If the raptor fell over.....it would be an instant right off :(

and that is why i just let the burgers go these days coz at the end of the day its only a bike. i'm beginning to notice that injuries are not healing as fast as they used to :smt072

Glad yer ok bud, ive just got all the bits i need to repair my unfortunate mishap but until the busted thumb heals i cant do nowt.

You know i would help if you wanted tho ok? :)

i'm now in the process of learning how to fix the sv650s fairings diy style. so far ive got plastifix guides etc. now all i need is a dremmel type tool and guides on how to fix cracked plastics!

Edit: the worst thing wasnt the fact that i had injuries it was the realisation i wasnt unbreakable.

a soldering iron and some plastic welding rods. learn on some old keyboards or other plastic parts first so you get in the swing of it before tackling your fairings. under no circumstances use a dremmel anywhere near fairings as the bits for dremmels are to small and you will gouge bits out.

welding plastic with a soldering iron is easy. you preferably want an iron with a chisel head. push the iron on the plastic lightly to melt plastic at back of crack using the tip of the iron then feed the rod at the front of the iron then move on in a stepping action. melt.. feed... step... so on and so on until you have welded past the start of the crack. if you don't weld past the start of the crack then it might split again. be careful on edges as you can melt the edge away very easily.

also do it in a well ventalated area with a fan blowing the fumes away.

you can also fix some cracks that haven't gone right to the end of the fairing where you can move it about in another way.

Get a pin, mix up some apoxy resin, carefully put a tiny bit on the pin and poke it into the crack, be careful of wedging too much in or it will spill out to the front and look crap. Hold it together until it starts knitting together, then once thats done its easy to plastic fill the back without it moving about1

Have used this method for an almost seamless un-noticeable bodge, when I sold my bike. Could hardly see it.
