On saturday when I was at work some one or a couple of people decided to break into my car and steal everything in it. Sub, amp, headunit, jackets, CD's, half a carton of apple juice etc. Police just said that I shouldnt hold much chance of seeing it again basically they didnt seem to bothered. Theres a decent chance a CCTV camera saw them have to go back down to the place where the camera is and ask them in a couple of days there going to look at the footage for me tomorrow. Theres a decent chance at the moment that I will find out who took it small town and i know a few people etc so if I do hear is ti going to be better going to get my stuff back my self and dealing out my punishment or telling the police and leting them sort it? The sub wasnt exactly small though and it was in the middle of the day on saturday in a not exactly quiet area so some one will have seen something even if it was just some one carying the sub and i wouldnt want to be carlying it the onlky way they could have realistically gone if they were walking.

One of these is right and one of these is wrong.
Do you REALLY need to ask on the internet which is which?

Clearly get it yourself!
We need something to talk about here on the org. And hearing about BanditPat getting his head kicked in for half a carton of apple juice will be vastly entertaining. :smt104

You know full well how just the justice system is, after Pat does all the detective work, finds out who it is, where his stolen gear is, gathers evidence etc... he will be prosecuted for stalking and still not get his gear back :-P

That'll teach you for having nice things.
Why not let the police do their thing , let you down then go and find them yourself?
Recently had a decent push bike nicked mind, only to get a call from the Police saying they'd recovered it a week or so later.
Still took me almost three months of emailing and phoning to get it back mind. But they can be very helpful...

Legal answer - job for Plod.
Small town answer - phone your mates and go round mob handed
Which way you go depends on who you're dealing with. Youngsters are probably best with Plod, but real scumbags....
I had something similar happen to me. Four other cars were broken to in my road. Third one the owner caught them in the act and they legged it. He called the fuzz and they caught them IN my car. Got done for it and I was awarded £150 damages which I then got a letter saying they couldn't make the scum pay so I got jack out of it. Hope the sort the law so we can kick the crap out of them!

Just go for the low lifes. Police are useless when it comes to car crimes, 0-3 with catching them for me with pretty much full description and video evidence twice.

Let the police deal with it, if you deal with the scum bags yourself you will be the one in court and possibly facing prison, the scum get away with it again, and decent, law abidding, hard working people play second fiddle to scum yet again.
Let the law deal with them. You know they will move quick if you go after the scum. It's the way this messed up country works these days.
The law is a complete joke, that's why there's so many scum bags out there, because even if they can be assed to investigate, and they find a load of evidence against them and it's in the publics intrest to prosecute, the punishment is pathetic and so it's worth the risk doing the crime in the first place!
If you steal something the owner of said property should be able to punch you in the face once for every £1 that item cost them. When they're done you make them a brew, say sorry and go buy them a new item. That'll make people think twice.

Is there such a crime as "incitment to Assault"?

For sure!
And for the OP, if you were the type of guy to take the law into your own hannds you wouldn't have posted on here asking surely.
I feel your frustration though but you ain't gonna do it. Try not to let the gits get to you.
The police got the ******* that broke into our car back in March he is currently serving 18 months for that and other crimes - not a tough sentence but at least they got him

I once had my car broken into outside my house and wasn't happy as they nicked my radio.
It cost me a pint to have it left on my doorstep the following night.
Sometimes it helps to know the properly scarey people.

Funnily enough I had a knock on the door last night from plod informing me that a couple of cars had been broken into further down the road and to check our cars.
It is the school holidays now and you can bet it was kids.I had a little reprobate who lives near me who was always at it but a word in his shell like seemed to do the trick.
Administering your own justice is only any good if you don't get caught doing it

Buy your next car from SA and hook this baby into the alarm, won't stop people breaking into your car but will make sure you never have a repeat offender.
