View Full Version : What should we do with the scum?

Before I ask, I'm assuming, being right-minded and well balanced individuals all, that we're in basic agreement that 90% of the people (a term I use loosely) involved in the looting and mayhem (I won't say riot - rioters usually have a purpose, to overthrow the government in Syria for example or kill all the Catholics/Protestants in the appropriate bit of Belfast) are scum. Morons in the old medical sense of the word ("a feebleminded person or mental defective with a potential mental age of between eight and twelve years who is capable of doing routine work under supervision"). Not much point blaming the parents either because they are as bad - how can they be expected to know where their kids are in the evening? They spent so many of their years from 13 to 30 breeding that they probably can't even remember how many they've got, let alone who the fathers might be or where the mothers live.
Anyway, assuming the police (all praise, good luck guys) could round up enough of the little vermin (and I like the idea of UV dye in the watercannon, sorry, can't remember who suggested it but genius), what do we do with them? The police cells are full and prisons are on the overcrowded side already.
My favourite suggestion at work was to put them all on an old car ferry or similar and send them out to sea for a couple of months. Pulling the plug out and letting it sink was also mentioned but that might be considered a bit harsh.
Any ideas?

Remove all their benefits, mobile phones, iPods, Playstations, X-boxes.
Make them do real hard work, labouring, resurfacing roads, crop picking, tree felling, cleaning graffiti, picking up litter, landscape maintenance, all whilst highly visible and reward them with just enough means to survive.
Give them seeds that they must plant in order to grow their own food, make them queue for hours at a stand pipe to get a bowl/jugful of water and basically make life as difficult as possible, but survivable if they put enough effort in. Those who can develop enough of a work ethic will get by and hopefully see the light, those that don't, won't.

Capture a few dozen of them and then surgically remove their hands whilst its broadcast on TV and then watch how fast the violence stops.
But no this country is full PC idiots who wil say that its cruel, however they dont think its cruel that most of the UK society lives in fear from yobs and god only knows how many people get seriously injured or worse due to the scum that walks our streets today.
The UK has got to a stage where we either take drastic measure now or let the PC crew allow complete civil unrest, I would gladly sacrifice limbs from scum in order to reduce violence and crime towards innocent people.

Prison ship at the 12 mile limit? or;
I'm usually against corporal punishment, however in a circumstance like this I feel it might be justified. And extreme behaviour deserves extreme punishment.
Mob mentality means that there are so many culprits that we cannot deal with it by conventional means. We simply don't have the cells.

you cant reform them they are scum, no point wasting yet more money trying to straighten out someone when a majority of other decent people do it as the norm. a couple of P on a bullet is cheaper than paying 5 kinds of benefits, police to chase them about, feeding and sheltering them, keeping them at one of her majesty holiday camps and re-educating them

Watched a documentary on sky ages ago. Can't remember where it was, Texas maybe, but the prison boss had a unique way of dealing with criminals.
He had them dress in bright pepto-bismal pink boiler suits and let them suffer complete humiliation as they carried out all forms of community service..he stated a very very low reoffending rate.

For sure, respect you for that and that you're time served, no question.
Just an extremely hard judgement call on what the hard line is, when and where to apply it, if its appropriate and whether it helps long term.
Tough call, and in final analysis maybe its better for a UK evolving justice system to work through the punitive options. ffs this isn't a new phenomena.
I just don't like like the mouth and trousers brigade getting macho and banging chests and being simplistic about it all.

As much as some people dont like large corperate companies, they do employ a lot of people. If you burn down a sony distribution centre yeah im not really fussed about sony however if they decide not to rebuilt it and 100s of peoples loose their jobs......

I'm in total agreement. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sony move their distribution warehouse to The Netherlands or Belgium rather than rebuild the one that got burnt down - both are places that don't suffer from the mob mentality we seem to breed over here. The rioters have effectively put a fair few more people on benefits and shattered some hard working people's dreams of running their own businesses. Those large corporations mostly started out as small one man businesses and generally it was young people from not so affluent backgrounds who started and built them up through their own hard graft, just ask Lord Sugar where his roots are.
As to what to do with the rioters right now- I don't know. Violence won't stop violence, that much has been proven in the past. You only have to look a short way over the water to Northern Ireland to see that. Nearly 40 years of constant troubles - a highly active and visible armed police and military presence didn't stop the shootings and bombings, sitting round a table and discussing options did.
In the short term a hard approach may be required, but long term something else is desperately needed because every time a young black man gets shot by the police (for whatever reason, justified or not) we seem to have this kind of a problem spreading through the major cities of this country.

When our military personnel return from operational theatre they have to go through a decmpression phase which includes phsycologist and doctors etc. to discuss things that have happened on their tour ie getting shot at every day and rocketed, losing friends and colleagues. There will always be anger in their minds.
let those military personnel loose on the looters to take out their pent up aggression. that would be the best form of decompression available.
also i refer to my comments in another thread. round them up and send them out here to Afghan to walk at the front of patrols and they can be the human IED detectors.

+1
To think anything else means you are just as short sighted as the retards doing the burning.
Every single business, large or small that gets damaged or burnt down will affect us indirectly cos if they and their employees aren't earning, they are not paying tax, spending wages and will no doubt run behind on their payments on loans etc which will impact on the banks.
It needs to stop now.

had another think about what these people are actually doing, a country that can only just afford to keep going is being brought to its knees by those who get paid most by the government I imagine already, fair? justice? do us all a flavour...
What are they "rioting" for... free ****, then hit them with the water cannons, shoot them with batton rounds, and give them all community service clearing up.
"stuff" is not a right, "stuff" is not a need, this is born out of greed and jealousy as those that used to be able to have now cant, like me, however the difference is I just get on and work harder, not kick the door of dixons in to get a new tv and claim "ooooh its so unfair this country has gone to the dogs"
we will pay for this clear up... they wont,
so forgive me if for once we just want to see this spineless little washed up country kick the **** out of something hurting it.
If they reject the law, might it not be reasonable to apply a response that no laws then protect them? Discuss.
I've had a fairly long-standing fantasy that those who reject the law can get accomodated on an unsupervised unpowered prison hulk, say a liner due for decommissioning, and left to their own devices. Every 2000 convicts' accommodation would just cost the price of scrap and no P.O. salaries.

Yes, but we are the morally outraged tax paying citizens who demand justice :D
Interesting that some of the arrested included a graphic designer and a bloke who was just about to join the Army. I'm sure there were other similar examples.
What happened to their morales or did they join in on the adrenalin rush of looting and thieving
and although I have no empathy with Sony (and other corporates that got attacked) I'll fight to protect those those poor shop owners that got creamed
We could end up going out of business over that (warehouse going up). Lot of independents lost their entire stock. A lot won't survive - Can't pay people if you've got nothing to sell - so that's more people out of work - not to mention I like indie labels - we do a lot of work for Indies. Still whatever.
I still stand by UV dye in watercannons - it stays for weeks and easily identified from clubbing UV - or smar****er them all
Personally I don't want to know what they they think - I can understand frustration etc etc but we all have had to put up with it. To me if we shoot them then it gets rid of 3/4th cycle benefits scroungers who think the world owe them a living. A cycle which is very very hard to break.
If they don't respect laws now then I doubt they will respect them later and thats another generation learning that the the counrty is crap and there' nothing for us. IF they wanted to work there is work available might not be the work you want to do at the right price but there is work.
I would rather see them birched by those who lost businesses and houses and jobs.
Permanately marked to show that they took part in this event charged from crimes against country which will never be removed from their record.
If they ain't british send them back. They obviously don't like it here either.
IB they act like it because they see no future no jobs and recession. They want everything becuase they are programmed to see that wealth and money =status. They want to be noticied. they are bored. they do it because they can. BUT they want it for nothing, they don't want to work becuase their parents didn't work. UK can keep me but I want what the rich guys worked hard for.. I can't afford so i'll steal it.
ITs the same argument generation after generation. Study after study shows this. the fundamental change is that becuase of these studies society is too PC and soft. These 'vents' would not have be thought as draconian a few generations ago. They think they can get away with it as they all know that crime does pay (video games, films, yadda yadda)
stuff the lets try and work out what they are thinking and start telling them that they can't do what hey want and use the scare tactics as its the only way its works.

If you're arrested then your property and the property of your known associates gets radied by the police.
Anything clearly new/boxed and reasonably assumed to be nicked is either returned to the store it was taken from or put into *the auction*
As far as punishment goes:
All are charged with criminal damage, theft, Disturbing the piece etc etc
Retraction of benifits for UK citizens,
Deportation for those on visas,
Those who remain in the UK are clamped with trackers and a curfew.
*The auction* a gathering of all items taken by perps during the roit and subsequent looting which is then sold on, all the money from which first goes to aid the recovery of the officers and other service members injured during these times. Then it goes to replacing damaged equipment, then finally it can go back into the community resotration schemes which are bound to pop up over the next few months.
I 100% think thats what should happen, no bravado that is genuinley a logical solution IMO.

You have a different class of hooligan to the type we have here then. In the south they'd be proudly displaying their badge of honour to all and sundry to gain 'chav points'. It would also help them to complain about not being able to find a job and give them a good reason for being on benefits. You'd just be pushing them further down the food chain and giving them an excuse to do this all over again.

Seems like the magistrates are being a little harder than they usually would be (looting always seems to have carried harsher views than theft or burglary).
In Croyden and Camberwell magistrates today only one person was granted bail (a 14 year old).
Others were remanded in custody for offences such as:
- Stealing a bottle of aftershave; and
- Additional charges of stealing 10 packets of bubblegum.
Why can't they remand people in custody for these things usually?

Actually I think a fair few of the looters would be ashamed if it became knowledge within their social circle. Not all the people being charged in court today were what you would call a chav or an asbo. People who are over 30 and 40 have been charged, some with respectable jobs.
I think a water cannon with dye would be great to highlight the looters.

blah blah blah blah blah, boring, if this is a vent yer frustration, bang yer chest, readers digest thread, I get it, I feel the anger and although I have no empathy with Sony (and other corporates that got attacked) I'll fight to protect those those poor shop owners that got creamed.
But you're not going Taliban justice route for everyone involved in this LOOTING, are you?
Chop their hands off and hang em high in public?
Drunk/ gung ho and simplistic thoughts borne out of frustration and oblivious to what makes these *******s act like they do? Do me a favour have another think?
Good on yer for being independant of thought and not following the sheep.
Very few like you on here it seems where macho power statements are the norm.
^ Might have something to do with the frustration related to the facts that many more conduct-disordered adolescents retain their sociopathy long into adulthood than don't, and that the recidivist rate for convicted crims is dispiriting. The toll on society is likewise mindboggling.
The effectiveness of psych/social worker intervention is much less than would be hoped for (and I humbly include my own efforts and direct observation here) and not what touchy-feely movies or docos give the impression of.
The old Jesuit chestnut about giving me the boy at 7 and I'll show you the man merely describes the endurance of formative emotional experience and the norm of acting out those experiences repeatedly through one's life.
Sigh..

Amazing isn't it.
Two people get prison sentences for inciting violence via facebook, and people go mad that the sentences are too harsh....... WTF?

I have no earthly idea how people should be dealt with for this. Prison is just something a lot of them will boast about when they get out.
