Where did you hear it was fatal mate? Described as serious injuries on the BBC and Northern Constabulary websites. Like we said at Glen Shiel, they wouldn't have taken him to Broadford if he'd been all that bad. Not to say there weren't complications mind you.

Anyway, the car is a write-off but the SV looked like it just needed the forks knocking straight. Good solid bikes!

There was a fatal RTA in inverness at the same time that morning, and I think it could be folk are mixing up details. I've checked on-line again and no updates to indicate the rider died later, which I would expect. However, thats what I was told from 3 sources. I'm really sorry if my o.p. turns out to be right. :-(

Back to work today (me not the guy in question) and found out our fellow pointy owner is still with us. Going to get used to the taste of hospital food right enough, but definitely not what we feared.

Dear SVorgers

your words are humbling:D

I been lurking around your great forum for 6 years now back to when i first bought her on west coast, so i guess i should've posted plenty by now

v pleased to reveal i'm back home (less 1/2 of 1 of 9 lives) now doing some detective work to get info on how i had this wee bump on the 12th and how it got out of control so quickly. have my suspicions yet can't air them publicly - too early.

Just can't remember much of that day only getting asked to wriggle toes & if i've been in a helicopter before - normally i'd be hyper but not this time.

Much more to say folks, just sorry if you were caught up in the aftermath. Was never made to feel it's always bikers fault either.

rb

PS is it normal to have to wait so long to even give a statement?????

No apology necessary mate. Filtered to the front of the queue so that when the cops let us through we had miles and miles of empty roads to go as fast as we liked. :)

Also failed to realise the helicopter wasn't taking you to Broadford, meaning you weren't serious, but was taking you the hell out of there to Glasgow, meaning you were very serious indeed. Might have gone bit slower if I'd appreciated that. Might have...

Anyway, Argyll in August is probably a bit early for you but hopefully we'll see you soon and you can tell the whole gory story.

Feet up now, remind the Mrs you're convalescing :D

yeah overall OK after 11days in hospital - not the best method to pick up nurses though;)

eyesight still not corrected itself and found out today my eye socket fracture is a possible cause but no invasive surgery required -- hoorah

probably the big fuel spillage lengthened the wait time for you tourists - my new tank bag soaked :smt088 but salvaged & cleaned up good:smt003

dunno what model car was parked on dornie bridge, id guess its a dinky city car type as i doubt my lineage still has a chance to grow if it was anything beefier like a SAAB or Volvo type.

I'm so glad to hear you are, relatively speaking, doing ok. All the biking crowd from Skye are wishing you a speedy recovery mate, and I hope to hear you're back on two feet soon, and in time, two wheels.

Take it easy mate and don't be a stranger on here, we are a good bunch honest! :-P

PS, the car was a Renault - Megane or Laguna estate I believe.

It's ironic that just the day before i was thinking i need a different bike for getting a scottish tour done - even more ironic one of my three preferred next car models was a Laguna (didn't get on with the Megane:()

A Skoda or Mazda now look more likely, sacrilege i know.

Haggis, was this poor renault decapitated when you saw it, very nearly me but just escaped with neck lacerations.

A good bunch indeed, i'm still converted.

One lucky merchant will get a decent engine (36K)once the bike's scrapped too
{sigh}
