a friend has recently. I was very sceptical until I saw her feet - amazing result - of course I am too young and fit (?????) to need it. Saw several people in one of the local markets being attacked today......

My wifes been and I dipped my feet in when the girl on the counter went for a wee or something. For me it tickled like feck and I couldn't stand it. My missus loved it, in fact if she could she would've jumped in and had the whole body nibbled. Hey come to think of it, who wouldn't?
Its a mini boom industry round here.

Apparently some establishments use the wrong type of fish and also aren't too fussed on personal hygiene i.e. if you have open wounds/ verucas etc.
Not for me thanks, the tough skin on my feet comes in handy when walking barefoot anywhere, but especially hot beaches.

I`d recommend it.... is a bit of a weird feeling to begin with but you soon get used to it. First time I had it done the results weren`t that brilliant but the second time was really good.
But they've just ate someone elses minging dead foot skin and didnt brush their teeth afterwards.

This whole fad strikes me as very odd indeed. Do they only eat the hard nasty bits of skin or do they go for the soft pink stuff too? Why would anyone want their feet nibbled by fish though, it is all very peculiar?

In a nutshell;
-Come from areas of Turkey and Iraq (Iran?)
-Live in pools etc and have developed a taste for skin as a way to suppliment their diet (if food is pleantyful, they aren't interested)
-Only eat the dead skin.
-Have been shown to help some people with various skin conditions (believed to be partly due to removing dead skin and some emzyme or other that's in their mucous, although the RSPCA claim saliva-I think mucous and they have just copied the wrong info)
-Cheap at about £2.50 a fish, look good in an aquarium, I'd need to many and have to starve my other fish to get them to do owt, but was thinking about it (don't ask)
-Usual issues around hygene as you'd have with any 'health spa' stuff.
-Been banned from the US because of the cleanliness issues and their current laws on cosmetic instruments.
-Why? cos having fish nibling your feet feels good.

No different to using maggots to clean septic wounds.

Odd but true. My grandparents had a cottage on Lake Huron, and in the shallows right by the beach you'd often find little minnows, who (according to my mother) liked the oil and salt off your skin. So, standing in the water, the tiny fish would swim up and 'kiss' your ankles.
So they 'kiss' your oily parts? Wheres my 10W40 engine oil gone...
Its OK I'll get my coat :smt120

i had heard of some not so nice reports about spread of disease etc. Wouldnt be for me as i cant stand my feet being tickled i would kick the bowl about the floor. If its athletes foot ur looking cured a dog licking round ur toes is nearly the best thing. If its dry/cracked skin get some african shea butter from avon about £5.

LOL! I hate it when the dogs lick my feet...they have been known to get an involuntary kick in the mush!
The fish thing is a pleasant feeling though. Not convinced it did much but felt nice.
